Google unveils WhatsApp competitor

If all your friends can do is tap on the bot auto responses instead of interaction with you like a human being, then you should be reevaluating your friendships. :p

I walked into that but I can honestly see these 'conversations' being ridiculous...

A: Yes, me too. It is good

So if you wanna send your lady a sexy pic of yourself, then use incognito mode?
Might forget and next time my boss does an image search you know what will be the first picture to show up.

That's the problem with Google. Why not add the functionality to Hangouts? Why do something new? People spend a lot of effort implementing a new messaging system and then it gets deprecated a few years later. It's a far bigger challenge maintaining and enhancing existing systems than doing all the glam work on something new. This approach doesn't work for business, and sooner or later it starts p'ing off users.

The message is: we're not gonna protect your investment in our past solutions. Who knows, in a year or two or three we'll abandon Allo and do something else.
It's not like MS is better with MS Office communicator > Lync > and now Skype for Business...

Except google+
It still is. Apparently the memo got lost that fb is used primarily by grannies for gossiping, getting votes for their baby's competition and clinging to inaccurate apartheid propaganda. Want to see some real serious conversation head on over to G+.

Very Def agree with that. I like some aspects of allo but they needed to streamline hangouts and integrate those features there...

They must have a wow factor to compete with WhatsApp, I did not go Wow yet...
And you won't....

From my point of view. .. unless Google make a huge splash with their first product in a market, they struggle to be relevant and just take a shotgun approach.

Jip, can see a year or two down the road they will integrate the two/three products.

Not just that, they are 3-5 years too late. They have missed the game.

It seems most companies are just trying to play catch-up these days instead of inventing new things. Google amazed the world with gmail when it rolled out, then later google chat, etc... We need them to go back to the good old days.
