That's quite a good price.

To my knowledge the HD595s are not worth R500 more than the HD555s. Apparently they're only slightly better for bass.

But yeah, wonder if I should get them over the HD555s. IIRC the HD595s some with a headphone/desk stand, that is quite appealing. Mmm...
 
The HD555 can be very easily modded to sound exactly the same as the 595, the internals is the same. The new sennheiser HD's are out, hence the pricedrop.
 
The HD595 are $150 on amazon.com, $85 for the HD555, if you have an alternative to Take 2 on getting them out here.

Yeah, I would like the HD558/598 but they are overpriced. The HD598 should be available in black, as well. :mad: :p
 
prophecy.co.za is the authorised etailer is South Africa.

But I see that they don't stock the HD 555 or HD595's any more...
 
I'm going to order the Grado SR-80i's from High End Audio tomorrow, should arrive on Monday. I'll update with my first impressions.

Don't want to void warranty and don't really want to even open them up, they look better and sound better, they are more comfortable, they have a desk stand. :)

Anyway, i also have been looking at head phones> i just want to get quality that will last. SO i dont want cheap stuff from incredible corruption. I have been looking only at sennheisers becuase i dont know much about these things and brands.

I was looking at the HD515,HD555,HD598. I am not sure what to get, I want to use them for games and DTS movies when i cant use my speakers. Also what are the wireless one like and are they worth it?

so take2 can order these things for me. epic cool!

HD555 are the minimum you should consider.

But remember that to perform optimally, you need an amplifier or amplified sound card.

Such as the Asus Xonar Essence ST/STX (most popular):

±R1250 Asus Xonar Essence STX , ultra fidelity 7.1 pci-express sound card , with metal shielding , built-in High Fidelity headphone amplifier , ASUS AV100 High-Definition sound processor , support DS3D GX 2.0 , VocalFX , Dolby®/DTS + Pro Logic IIx , SNR output/input : 124/117db , HD Audio at 192KHz/24Bit , EAX advanced HD , with optical SPDiF out + HDMi out ( via header to VGA card with HDMi out ) + RCAx2 analog out + no 3.5mm + CD-In + Aux-In - retail pack + bundled software

If you can't afford that/don't want it/etc. then look at the Grados as per the OP. He's getting them because he doesn't have an amp.
 
Finally managed to order my Grados, arriving tomorrow. Hell yeah.

Why do you need an amplifier?

this probably my means my 51. HD realtek on board sound on my gb mobo is not good enough?

So will have to fork out more....
