Grand Theft Auto 6

If there is a midnight launch for this game, anyone going to wait in a queue for a physical copy?

Not sure if BT Games still do this, I did queue at midnight when I bought GTA V.

Have not decided against it yet, but it is on the bucket list. Will depend on a few factors eg if they still do trade-ins

I had the 4GB Xbox 360 and had to use a flash drive for storage to play GTAV.

Ordered a copy from CNA and fortunately it arrived early in the morning of release. Was about 3 weeks out from exams I was studying for and took a week off to play as there was simply no way I was going to be able to concentrate.

Now you just preinstall the day before and off you go. Convenient but at the expense of some of the fanfare and excitement

This time I'll just wait for the PC port. I played 5 on my PC and PS, but the combat was a lot more fun on PC, you could really crank up the difficulty.

I have first hand experience of just how hard sales have fallen in 2024, people are still buying games but the volume is significantly less and they are extremely selective about what they get.

Sales should pick up a little during the holiday season and winter in the northern hemisphere, gaming in particular does have seasonal spikes in sales.

But we do have this little thing call a war happening in Europe that is adding to inflation directly and indirectly it is going to take some time before the impact of it is reduced to manageable levels, with possible reversal at some point.

Entertainment just isn't the top of the list currently, the current US housing crisis bubble not likely to burst but housing is being kept artificially high it is compounded by above average inflation. It isn't close to what it was 11 years ago when the GTA 5 released.

Any expectation of overwhelming sales should really be kept conservative, just isn't a good time for at least the next 2 years. everything is in the shitter across the world....
I think GTA 6 will be recession proof, other titles may see a massive drop in sales and DLC leading up the its launch.

I will buy it, I have enjoyed GTA games and have never felt felt I have not received value for money.

11 years. Obama was still in office, Apple released the iPhone 5s (Samsung released the Galaxy S4), Sam Smith was still a man, and I may have still been a virgin. It’s long overdue.

Rockstar reiterates they will launch this year (for now):

Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we plan to launch Sid Meier's Civilization VII on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4

^ so.. 2026 lol. And then 2029 for the pc version :p

I'm more concerned about rumours that they will charge anything from $80 up to $100 or more for the game

Well there is a rumour that they will split online and single player, so $100 in total but maybe $80 for the single player. I'm fine with that.

Tuned in live, and did not get anything new from it. They could commit to a 2025 release in this call and days later announce a delay. Just how it works

Yea I know, it was just an earnings call. But they could just as easily have said it is being delayed...which they didn't :)
