Graphics cards

@Ancalagon - The benchmarks conducted by AnandTech on the ASUS GT430 is a pre-launch/sample card. The Asus GT430 is underclocked by 200mhz on the memory whereas the Gigabyte GT430 has a slight overclock on the memory and the core clocks. The GT430 has also had a BIOS upgrade since launch thus improving performance.

In my expedience Nvidea's have a much shorter life span and are very "touchy" just a warning

This might sound fanboyish but I tend to agree with him... Every single Nvidia that I have had has packed up and the ATI's tend to go on forever.

As for my decision...I'm getting the HD 5670! It looks good on paper, and certainly thrashes my old 9500GT! Just hope Radeon lives up to my expectations.

@ d7e7r7, go with your heart, both the recommended cards are good, and I'm sure they will both be adequate for your needs.

Just get the DDR5 version even if it's 512MB.

It depends on brands. The Gigabyte GPU's come with a 3yr warranty but is slightly more expensive than one with a 1yr warranty.

I have had Leadtek, Gainward and Gigabyte NV cards die on me.

Funny enough even the dirt cheap ATI manufacturers like Club3d, Force3d, Vtx3d etc all have 2 year warranty.
