Yes the existing poles were purchased from Telkom and additional poles were planted to complete the routes .

And yes you are correct Sunninghill is good old fashioned trenching !

I have heard nothing from Greencom about setting up the line at my place. No date as too when they will be arriving/installing.

Becoming rather worried since its end of Feb and the Greencom representative for Glenferness never answers his calls. My guess I will only have the line at the end of March?

Going LTE while I wait...

Anyways hopefully things start moving along.

A quick update on my client's installation in Glenferness :

The fibre is in the building, professionally installed and routed the way we wanted it, just waiting on "The Terminator" (nice guy who's going to splice the pigtails on to the end) and the CPE device ...

More updates to follow, getting close now :)

99% Complete, thanks very much Greencom !!

Just need 1 or 2 changes on the CPE to match our network config, but here's a couple of speed tests to show how well it's working :)

I sent Greencom a mail on the 24th of Feb about any plans for Illovo in JHB and haven't heard anything back.

My client is a school, so the 50mbps probably won't look so fast after a day or two... Still a million times better than 4meg DSL

Hi Paul

I have also sent a mail with some questions regarding your rollout in Sunninghill, but perhaps this is a better medium as others could find answers to my questions helpful.

1. Do you guys have an updated expected available date for your service in the Sunninghill area? (I could not find one)
2. Having failed to obtain a response from our body corporate, could you confirm whether "The Kanyin" will be serviced by Greencom Fibre?
3. Would the prices you guys advertise on your site differ for areas or is it fixed?
4. When opting for a 25meg line package is it shared with other users or would we be semi guaranteed to obtain speeds associated with a full 25meg line?

Appreciate you guys taking SA one step closer to the rest of the world.

Hi Paul,

I see from Q-tech's speedtests that glenferness runs on Metro fibre networx. Is your Sunninghill project sepperate from the ratepayers association project directly with metro fibre networx?

Looks great!

I can see you have just finished trenching to the corner of my complex in Tana Road! :D

It does seem that the process from infrastructure to actual installation takes quite a bit of time. More so for those of us in a complex.

Hoping and praying it is not too much longer before action is taken.

Hi Marnuse ,

You are correct it is a long process but if you are in a complex , once we have the uptake we can move very fast as we do not require wayleaves inside the complex . Be sure to register your interest on www.greencom.co.za . It is the registration of interest that is the driving force that will deliver services in your complex .

Hi Paul

Could you give us a possible ETA as to when everything should fall into place?

HI Paul

Absolutely.
It seems that the delays for some of us will be with the complex body corporate, despite having registered my interest and raised it with our complex management they only plan to mention it at the next board of trustees meeting, which could be in a month's time. I even attempted to send out an uptake survey so that people can already express an interest, but without any luck to get them on board.

Appreciate the response

Hi Guys

We are just in the process of signing off the display boards with the SRA these will be up soon in Sunninghill and will create much more interest in the project .
