Greencom

Does Greencom only use metro fiber? I'm in Midrand and there is no metro fiber running in our street but we do have DFA running in our street.

Hello Oober,

In a perfect world we we like too own all our own fibre in the ground , in the real world most providers lease from other providers, sometimes permanently or just until they can complete their own roll outs. These leased links can be to the host providers POP's or layer 2 links to Teraco where they are peered via NapAfrica.

Greencom does have Midrand in the 'cross wires' , my question is where abouts in Midrand are you ?, like any other suburb it will be done in phases,

Hi 4cer,

Yes we are rolling out in Sunninghill Gardens and are in communication with the Sunninghill Community Rate Payers Association to create additional interest so we can achieve minimum uptake requirements of individual complexes. Our core backbones are already installed in Sunninghill, please be sure to register your interst on www.suninghillfibre.co.za. Please advise me 4cer off where you reside in Sunninghill and i can give you more detailed information.

Hi Oliverwww,

MTN have engaged with the LRA to provide a fibre cctv security solution rolled out in phases and this will also offer FTTH to residents.

Greencom has completed the core fibre in Glenferness and most of the signed clients have been connected. We are in communication with clients in Lonehill as we have core fibre just the other side of the road in Glenferness.

Be sure to register your interest on www.lonehillfibre.co.za

Absolute no news for Broadacres? I would be more than happy running a trial (cnr Lombardy / Syringa)

I've sent you an email earlier today. :)

We are on our way to broadacres please register your interest on www.fourwaysfibre.co.za

Awesome. Registered already keep digging. I would be happy if you land at Broadacres Country Estate  - apparently our estate was "fibre-ready" (whatever that means) in 2008.

FWIW - how does your Swift (personal, 25Mbps) compare to your Hustle (business, 25Mpbs) compare? Can you offer any TOS / SLAs?

i.e. why should I go from my Afrihost business uncapped to your FTTH solution?

Hi Paul

I live in Tana Road a few houses up from the KFC. Are you connecting the houses along Tana Road any time soon?

Im also In Glenferness, Have Emailed Greencom today, will keep you updated on the process;)

@Paul - I have just "mobilised" a number of management agents and estates in Broadacres to express interest. It would be great to get a feel for how many parties actually expressed interest and if FTTH is viable in our area with Greencom within reasonable timeframes (i.e. within 3-6 months) or if we should just embark on our own thing with someone else.

It is possible to be in Broadacres within 6 months and thank you for the motivation. Please be sure that they all register interest on www.fourwaysfibre.co.za , the more interest shown the faster we can be there .

hi Tony99

We are starting in Tana Rd this month the back bone fibres are in place, please PM me your address and ill give you more feedback.

Well seems greencom is being flooded with requests for information. I've sent a mail and a pm to Paul requesting some more information but had no reply yet.

Hi Paul,
You mentioned having Midrand in your "cross wires". Please could you provide more information. I am part of Vorna Valley and a specific boomed community that requires better bandwidth.

tks

Fibre ready means the developer has either made provisioning for fibre via ducts and conduits or has installa fibre ring within the estate.

The difference between business and residential packages is that business is a managed service with a higher SLA ,

Why should you move from DSL ? Answer, DSL has virtually no upload speed , is unstable and over contended, it is not suitable for voice services or media streaming / IPTV .
