Greencom

Hi Guys,

Any news on roll-outs in Pretoria yet? We are moving soon to the Moot area (free standing house) and would like to know when we can expect Greencom to make their services available in that area.

Trying to start an initiative for Pretoria West, specifically for Erasmia/Laudium and surrounds. Any tips on what I can do to generate interest. Gonna use community message groups and maybe even flyers.

Wasn't aware that Crystal Web was doing fibre as well. Don't wanna derail this thread, can you PM me if you have had any interest thus far from the suburbs I mentioned in my previous post.

3 so far.

Make it happen...:D

What's the performance like on Greencom? Any Sunninghill people care to comment?

Here's two speedtests from my offices (10mbps) - Excuse the ping and jitter, my laptops wireless isn't any good

JHB:
Download Speed: 10011 kbps (1251.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9983 kbps (1247.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 7 ms
Jitter: 12 ms

CPT:
Last Result:
Download Speed: 9953 kbps (1244.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9996 kbps (1249.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 23 ms
Jitter: 7 ms

Have yet to see any problems with real world speed. Downloading at 1.1MB/s constant even on p2p. Streaming 1080p 60fps no problem

Couldn't complete installation at Shimbali sands due to the unit below us being empty; :( @F1ve_Claw - are you guys up and running?

Looks good. I'm assuming similar performance on the higher packages.

Those speeds seem pretty sweet. Phase 1 and phase 2 of the installation has been done at my unit at Keswick. Still waiting for Phase 3, "3. Team 3 will install the ONT and then conduct testing on the link", to happen... I mailed Debbie from DNA fibre solutions but still no reply as to a timeline when this will happen. Here's hoping in the next 18 days.

In the same spot as you with my home connection. Lets hope I don't have to re-activate my telkom line again. Greencom's biggest fault is the lack of communication. Have not received confirmation that they got my installation amount or that they received my debit order form :\

Edit: Just got confirmation. Seems the thread is stalked! Thank you :)

Like truedeath, I'm waiting for Keswick to be up and running. I've never experienced such faffing from people who you'd have thought would want your money as soon as possible.

I also struggle to communicate with them. I'm sure they get a lot of emails though.

I really wish I could help and comment but I can;t as I am still waiting. Its been 15 days now without WiFi at home and its starting to piss me off a little now. And its cost me 30GB of mobile data so far. :(

The last time I have had such bad communication was when I was with iBurst. It really is shocking at the moment. Technical people tell you something, sales lady says something else and the contractor says something totally different. You might find it hard to believe but right up until now Telkom has given me a much better service and I am not even connected yet. :/

Even with a lot of emails, there should be at least some acceptable level of service. If you want peoples money you must offer a good service. Bad news spreads much faster so its something they should keep an eye on.

I also think I saw Metro Fibre teams connecting other complexes in Naivasha Road. I wonder what their pricing looks like.

I'm really struggling to even get our local BBM broadcast people to send out a single message to try and get support. I think I'm just gonna print flyer and hand them out all over the place.

I think I'm gonna wait a few months until Greencom maybe gets their **** together, as in answers their phones. Not in the mood to be a guinea pig for them. Once they're a bit more established I'll definitely be signing up.

What are you referring to KB?

I've been phoning them for the last few days to no avail. Just wanna know when they'll be done in a certain complex.

Isn't one in Sunninghill? Which one? The best way to actually find out is to go directly to the contractor on site. They will be able to tell you. You will wait forever if you call or send an email.

Is the contractor LTD Business Solutions perhaps?
