Gripens over Cape Town

waiting for the Rand airport Airshow, epic waking up to the Dakota flying meters over my complex on Saturday,

even once scored a ride in that old plane, and it made such a racket on takeoff,
lets see this year if they bring back the old planes.

I work in Paarden Eiland and never see anything, then again I am indoors and dont go outside for smoke breaks anymore

The Gripens flew over my house twice on Wednesday and again yesterday. It seems that they head out over False Bay to make a turn around before heading back to the CBD side. They were pretty low before going over the ocean and not exactly holding back speed wise either. Everything in my house rattled as they shot over. It was pretty exciting actually.

Yea when I worked in Paarden Eiland a few years back I also used to see the choppers back and forth along the coastline...

Some of the SANDF Orxy helicopters are based at Ysterplaat, and fly towards False Bay for maneuvres every day.

Fantastic display over the bay this evening. First two Rooivalk and then a few Gripens flying low, fast and loud. Hair raising stuff. All the sour bitches moaning on the community groups that they are being inconsiderate

I saw them flying towards False Bay (not Table Bay!?) After sunset too...

Sadly yes. My sons are aircraft mad, they would have loved the old Virginia airshow in Durbs.

First and last time I saw a spitfire, still get goosebumps when thinking of the sound of that merlin engine at a low flyby.
