Gripens over Cape Town

First and last time I saw a spitfire, still get goosebumps when thinking of the sound of that merlin engine at a low flyby.
I saw the Spit in 2000 or so and watched it crash on landing :-( might have been earlier. There is Mustang Sally which still flies often enough in SA. Was at the Rand Airshow in 2017 and watched it. Love the sound and just to see it idle before take off.

With all the financial woes in SA I think not blowing money on jets flying a few times is fine.

The issue however is that our gov still loot the money made available for these jets to fly over so no winning on either side.

Happened in April 2000. I taped it on my old VHS camcorder... still have the footage which I digitised back then too. I'll upload it when I get home.

Fantastic display over the bay this evening. First two Rooivalk and then a few Gripens flying low, fast and loud. Hair raising stuff. All the sour bitches moaning on the community groups that they are being inconsiderate

Yes, was very exciting... unfortunately happened just as I was putting the kids down.

We must live very near to each other! The Rooivalk display was awesome to watch! How was that low fly by by the Grippen after dark?!? WOW!!! Guy came in there s**t hot and s**t low too! As he pulled back up over False Bay I could see the afterburners throwing massive flames.

Yeah would've been the era of Camcorders :-(

Too many forums bro. I'm not interested.

Fine fine, be lazy, kudos and all that to the photographer and this thread there -> https://avcom.co.za/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&p=1979149

And its AVCOM forum sorry, got it wrong, I still go there for images and model aircraft.
