GTI accident

Drunk pedestrian in the road? If he'd been going 30km/h faster he would have got there before the drunk even started crossing the road

That might be sarcastic but there are many stupid people on that part of the N1, I hit a pedestrian a little bit back from there a bit more then 10 years ago. And since then I've seen something similar happen around there many times. The pigs just drive past these stupid idiots crossing the highway.

I have noticed a lot of people modify these GTIs to get insane power but its still driven by the front 2 wheels - which is not a good combo

Blowout, swerved to avoid something, hasn't done any advanced driving. Who knows.

Thus stay in the speed limit where your chances of braking and thus impacting at a even lower speed is much better, especially in a car with performance brakes.

Not that I care much in this instance if he only took himself out.

Saw a video over the weekend of a front wheel drive Honda doing close to 900HP. Do you have any idea how much power that is? I highly doubt anyone would be able to pimp a Golf to that much and not know what they are doing. That being said, you get stupid people with stupid money and I guess it's easy to slap on a few mods and think they can drive.

Nope, more than just himself. There was a passenger in that car if you look at the airbag next to the road.

I prefer high powered fwd vehicles as opposed to rwd ones, they much more predictable on normal roads

I hit a high curb with my car one (the old traffic circle in Green Point, which is no longer there), and my speedometer was stuck on 40, rev counter at 4000 rpm :erm:

Cape Town - One man died after he apparently lost control of his vehicle and careened off a railway bridge on the N1 in Kraaifontein on Friday, the Western Cape province's traffic chief Kenny Africa said.

The Golf broke up from the impact as it landed next to the railway line, leaving crash debris scattered around the scene.

The N1 was closed for a short period to give emergency services space to work at the scene, causing severe delays for commuters.

Metrorail spokesperson Riana Scott said the accident did not affect train services.

I hit a pothole once and my airbag warning light came on in a BMW E46 :D

Could be drivers blood, all depends on seatbelt use...

Single blood spot on the airbag. Airbags don't deploy if the seatbelt isn't connected and force exerted on it. Definitely a passenger in the passenger seat.

Edit: Saw the article. I stand corrected SSB :o

Damn, too quick, gah!

Read up on airbags , they do deploy even with no seatbelt.

I would say this is the reason to drive 80 km, but what are chances of being involved in accidents with speedsters that don't see you while over taking people in the slow lane?

My BMW didn't deploy the passenger side due to the seatbelt not being worn (no occupants) but I guess not all cars are the same. In posting that I realised it's probably hard to judge anything with such an impact. If it's suppose to deploy it will with those forces :D
