yes that's true speed, not whats shown on the clock, the top speed in your numbers compared to the pic sort of confirms that

it doesn't really matter which lower gear he was in, its just weird to be in the low gears at high revs for any duration of time

was just finding out if the gauges moved or if the speedo and ref counter correlate

I am not sure whether looking at that speedo cluster is actually reliable. Like I said earlier, my speedo and rev counter got stuck when I hit a curb before, and not at the speed or revs I was doing at the time of the impact. I don't even know why it got stuck at all.
 
He didn't die. Speed doesn't kill (according to some on here) and we can see he was driving fast, therefore he didn't die. Logic.

He died because he was reckless. That accident was early on Friday morning, I heard about it on RSG. Late on Tuesday evening I crossed that very bridge at a speed similar to that - guess what - I am not writing this from the grave.

But isn't that what you expect from a Volkswagen (GTI driver) ?
 
that's closer to the top of 3rd gear, in 4th the revs should be much lower but I may be wrong, driving in the red line in third gear for any period would be weird and if he was accelerating then he would have been changing gears at that point

Must be 4th or 5th in a GTi. Volvo T5 with very long gear ratio would just have hit 4th gear at that speed
1st gear = 55Km/h
2nd gear = 110Km/h
3rg Gear 170Km/h
4th Gear 230Km/h
5th Gear = 260km/h+ as speedo only goes to 260Kmph (Speed limiter must have been removed with software upgrade as it's supposed to be limited to 250Km/h)
6th gear = petrol saving gear lol

I think your table is in mph and not kph...

My diesel does that at 3800rpm in 1st.

speedo doesn't give true speed, its simply the indicated speed from which to approximate the true speed

It's not how much it can do... It's how much it does under normal driving. Any moron can punch a car off the line and redline it in first. Gear ratios vary from car to car especially performance cars to make the change between gear as smooth and quickly as possible and maximizing the torque from the follow on gear. Just because your Diesel does that in 1st doesn't mean it's the most effective way :p :D
 
Are these speedo's designed to stick like that at impact? Or did the person picking it up just move the needles?
When the power is cut, the needles should drop down to 0 - not so?

Most cars have fall back locks when collision occurred. New cars obviously. But apart from that the ECU also records the data on impact. Depending on the car I would guess that clocks to be locked on heavy impact. Then again a massive impact can also cause the needles to shift higher as it will be blocked from falling back. So only the ECU will be able to tell you.
 
There will be a freeze frame stored in the ECU when the airbags deployed.
