so its insurance for your modem? isnt that called a warranty in other places?

Warranties cover manufacturing faults which lead to premature end of life for the device.
Warranties don't cover theft and "avoidable damage", insurance does.

But, in this case it seems warranty should cover it.

agreed. but rooi seems to want to sell insurance (which you have to pay extra for every month) as warranty (which is included in the selling price)

Proof that Iburst is a sister organization of Government

went to fetch my modem today (lady promised to call me when it arrived, but didnt  ).

Was so grateful and even wanted to post a rave for the Iburst re-seller, and was seriously contemplating extending my use of Iburst after the contract expires :erm:

Anyway, before posting the rave, I thought I should just test it and see if it works. Low and behold, its still dead.

To be honest, it doesnt look like the box was even opened, as its the same way I packed it when I gave it to them. useless is a serious understatement of this company as a whole. the iburst rep (one that was filling in for GCebile) also never came back to me when I initially enquired after I sent him my UTID.

Have you addressed this with the reseller?

Bummer, sorry to hear, man....Rooi, where can one take an iBurst modem for repairs? I'm based in the Randburg CBD. I have a laptop modem and I think the pins where it connects to the USB cable have possibly worn, as any movement causes the power to go off. I see you guys are there on William Nicol?

addressed what with the re-seller? that the modem is still fcked? Yes. Actually I have just come from there, and the guy that helped me lied to my face. He said they tested the unit this morning in their offices and it was working. How do I know he was talking out his @ss??? This morning when I fetched it, the parcel/modem was still in the sealed wrapping from the courier. It was only opened when I came there and it was definately not tested. They just gave it to me and sent me on my way.

got a call from re-seller yesterday. they "tested" it again and determined the power supply/adaptor was faulty. They said Iburst doesnt repair or replace those but they can order me one for R250-R300 which I could pick up today. The circus continues...

got a call a few minutes back.....the supplier of the power supply is busy with stock taking and thus is wont be delivered today as promised...

suppose all I can do is LMAO

has anybody noticed that no straight answer was provided by any Iburst rep (whoever they are these days)?

seems like addressing issues on here is done selectively.

nothing new

Rather just buy a used modem from someone just to get you through the contract.

Yes, come to 3012A William Nichol and see if the guys can help you. Maybe a new cable?

You took up the problem with a reseller who is better suited to resolving the issue than interactions on a forum.

If you don't have your power supply by Thursday, meet me at the Main Building of Grey College at 5pm and I'll give you my own personal one.

actually I took up the problem with both re-seller and agent (henry dladla). Re-seller just happened to be the one that is responding (all be it very poorly in my opinion).

Thanks for the offer though. says alot about the type of person you are. :)

But your offer doesnt solve the underlying problem here. It cant be expected of you to give up your personal possessions to satisfy customers. The most important part of any business selling something is after sales service.

called them as I have received no feedback this morning. The lady who I'm dealing with is on lunch and nobody else knows J@ck ***** about the issue. I have this funny feeling another excuse is on its way
