Yeah, before I start fiddling and changing it again I'll give it some time to sort itself out. :X3:
 
I also did mine this week.

Post #34 helped a lot to get started and to avoid the confusion.

My approval took about three days though, but what's nice is, you seem to get a 'certificate' showing your number.

Question: When using a freight forwarding service such as MyUS, how do you provide them with the Customs Code?

From earlier post

Make sure the shipper writes the code number on the invoice. This is VITAL as this identifies the code to the clearing agent who enters it on the DA50 (the clearance/duty/VAT form submitted to Customs)

I always specify my address to read:

Name / Initial
Street name and number
Suburb
Town
Postcode
Province
South Africa
Customs code for import 99999999
Tel: (house and mobile)

I just read the article now and I see Jan says R50k Wow, last year when SARS contacted me it was R20k This is good to know :thumbsup:

Can I add to Aramex Global Shopper address and Amazon?

I removed the CU from the Customs Code and amazon accepted the digits only. Weird but lets see.
 
I finally obtained my SARS importer's code using the guide in the article. I submitted all of the documentation that they requested. Note that I don't have a mobile voice contract, but I do have a data contract and I submitted the statement for that. I then received a notification that I had to check my RLA inbox but upon trying to access it from eFiling, I received the following error message:

I then dialled the SARS Call Centre and chose the option dealing with Customs. I was ably assisted by Allison who knew her stuff around navigating the SARS eFiling website. TL;DR - I needed to have ITR12 activated on my Organisation account. I then had to wait 24 hours for SARS to process this change. I logged in the next day and I could access my RLA inbox and saw my confirmation waiting for me.
 
Can anyone confirm if we still need these importers codes? Government gazette 43569 from 31 July 2020 seems to indicate that the 3 consignment limit has been lifted, and it is R150,000 per year limit, for home consumption.

Not as far as I can tell but maybe someone else can chip in.
 
I'm still unable to get any clarity on whether or not the law has been amended, it seems to not be available on the government site listing the amendments to the customs & excise act. So clear as mud at the moment to me.

Phone FedEx, select international shipments and ask them, they will know.
