GW vs. WoW

I haven't played either but hope to play soon, what kind of internet speeds do u need to play any (that is the main problem in my decision :(.) because i have iburst which is uncapped on local servers (South African) and after my cap is finished it goes down to like 10kb/s (really bad), is it possible to play any online game at that speed. please help

I started playing GW on 56k dialup.

When i played with computer characters it was fine, in a group of friends i'd take longer to load between maps and they'd have to wait all the time.

I'm still on n00b island with my lvl 10 dood in Nightfall. I havent played for so long I can't even remember the name of the class with the Scythe :( EDIT: *Dervish*

My prophecies hunter is also still lvl 10, But I dont really dig post-searing Ascalon. Somebody forgot to water the plants.

Post-searing Ascalon is but the tip of the iceberg compared to the rest of the game. You'll quickly move into the Shiverpeak mountains.

P.S. It's a Ranger, not Hunter ;)

I did too, but I "replaced" Factions and Nightfall with the Collector's Editions which I payed R250 and R200 for, which was a bargain.

I wonder how GW2 will compare to WoW though - seeing as how they're removing the whole instancing thing. Or at least that's how I understand it.

Mostly but not 100% of it, also it wont be instances as we know them from GW1 :)

I just don't hope that the game is outdated by the time it is released

I somehow don't think that will be a problem.

NCSoft delayed the release of the beta (it was supposed to be released round-about now), since they wanted to keep the surprise - apparently one of the developers was quoted as saying it will completely blow us away.

Personally, I'm looking forward to being blown away - sounds pleasant :P

Lol, I just don't like being over hyped :p

But I love GW and I am sure I will love GW2 :D

I'm gonna miss the feeling of killing stuff and knowing that they won't respawn in a few seconds..

when is GW2 due for release anywho?

With all this hype about WAR, AoC, Whatnot ... if anything is going to replace WoW, It'll be the new and improved GW

They were planning to bring out a beta end of this year I think, but then the said that they are moving it to beginning 2009.

I don't think they've set a definite date yet - at best I've heard that its due for release somewhere around the middle of next year.

The beta was due for release round about now, but that was pushed back to next year as well - ArenaNet said it was due to the fact that they didn't want to spoil the surprise.

I think with all this WAR / AOC / whatnot hype I'll stick to wotlk until gw2 comes out. Hopefully by then Fable2 is available on pc as well :D
