Gym question for 49 yo

Of course not. You and your first aid qualifications definitely get to decide what is "normal", right?

First Aid? I can insert a chest drain for a pneumothorax. it's a bit advanced for First Aid. I'm not Dr Geoff. And what med quals do you have at all to dispute anything medical then?

You choose which of my statements to dispute without taking the rest into context. For the record:

1. BMI is an excellent starting point to assess weight
2. The build of the person, ecto, endo and mesomorph, will be taken into consideration after BMI and the assessment is adjusted. Ectomorphs can carry a massive amount of visceral body fat and appear normal.
3. Body builders cannot be measured by BMI because their build is not natural. BMI was developed using natural persons.
4. If you look at pre 1980's photos, you will see people were much thinner. The high carb low fat diet was promoted from 1977 on. We now see overweight as normal and BMI as abnormal.

Surely BMI evangelists have heard something like this before:

BMI (body mass index), which is based on the height and weight of a person, is an inaccurate measure of body fat content and does not take into account muscle mass, bone density, overall body composition, and racial and sex differences, say researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

....but of course, all the researchers are narfy about BMI because they are obese.

BMI is a medical measurement and a rough entry indication before other factors are taken into account to measure the true BMI.

Posting a single factor completely out of context does not make your post true despite your appeal to authority.

Suggest you go argue at med school. Take your med degree along to prove credibility.

Well, let me lose 40kg, then my weight will be "normal". Then I also cannot partake in recreational powerlifting. I will probably still be able to jog 5km though. Woot.

Can I use your med degree instead?

193, 125kg, damn. I'd better lose 30k or face certain serious health issues.

No more strength training for me :-(

Or can't I just het a bit taller.

I did a first aid course in standard 4 so we are basically peers then.

Have a chat with your GP then. Don't forget to mention your unregistered Std 4 First Aid course to add credibility to your argument. Like Dr Geoff Google's unregistered Level 1 First Aid Certificate he relied on in the Covid threads.
