So they chose to go the legal route (the right afforded to them, and all companies in SA) and the courts sided with them?

Well based on the following allegations

“Anglo American Platinum filed SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) against a South African (public interest) lawyer Richard Spoor, who represented indigenous communities affected by platinum mining on tribal land,” the blog post stated.

The post further stated that Anglo American obtained an order “interdicting two tribal chiefs from interfering with their mining operations and had them arrested with charges of intimidation and trespass”.

The post highlighted that security forces opened fire on mineworkers using rubber bullets in October 2012.

It is stated that the mining group is also polluting areas in Brazil “which caused water contamination and genetic mutations”.

And then there's an allegation about pollution with nothing to back it up. Bizarre allegation btw - that their pollution is changing genetics. I'd like to see the peer-reviewed research conducted to back that up...

What I did pick up on was:
1) Many of the investors are British and fed through ABSA and Barclays.
2) Many people use Hotmail and Yahoo email accounts for investing with. :wtf:

I do actually read their annual reports and broker reports, have been doing that for years.
Anglos is covered by 1000's of analysts around the world.

What reading up have you done?

If you or your wife have a pension fund, around 2 to 5% of that will be in Anglos.
