Try the Iskendar dish.
Basically the shredded meat (on that donner grille), on a bed of their bread, drizzled with an olive oil/tomatoe type sauce. VERY tasty. Yes not spicy, but delicious. Even more when you mix it with a dollop of their yoghurt.
Beef. Came with spinach, mash and balsamic reduction. Very impressed.
My experience with strictly Halal eating places in Cpt is that the food sucks.
Its more about quantity than quality.
And the day they buy on special somewhere else? No need to tell you that todays special is not Karan beef!@ph4te
- i buy from the one in Mayfair (church street) bigger serving of meat, but no chips
- the one in Ormonde (same owners as the one in Rivonia) adds chips but a slightly smaller portion.
Sometimes ask them to replace the beef with cut up chicken cubes.
@3Gee - apparently many restaurants in JHB buy their meats from Karan Beef (http://www.karanbeef.co.za/AboutUs/Halaal-Certified)
This is where the 'halal friendly' bit comes in. Sure these places are not certified, sell booze and could sell pork too. But the rest of the meal comes form halal sources and some are fine with this.

Sadly seem they may be closed. If so its sad that muslims in area dont support halaal places.Ordered from Nazias Chilli and Chocolate for a family supper. Great service, communication and food. They also sold biltong (so so) samoosas (potato so so; chicken excellent) and my favourite ice cream brand Gattis ☺
Going to be my haleem and samoosa supplier during ramadaan.
So Taahir Halaal Butcher are selling these awesome wors rolls outside the store. Turns out the sause they use to make your mouth water is the Joe Joe's Garlic peri peri sauce.
Went straight to the factory and picked up a 5lt for for a very good deal. Gave the whole family and now everyone's addicted.
Has a slight mayo tang and goes with absolutely anything. Burgers, pizzas, eggs etc.
