ADSL line speed: 4Mbps ADSL (Fastest DSL Bundle)
ISP name: Telkom
Time: Anytime.
Problem: Getting speeds from about 1.90Mbps - 2.5Mbps after upgrade from 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps. Telkom technicians visited us 1.5 days after logging call (very impressive guys - thank you) but in their opinion, because distance from exchange is just under 5km, this is the best we are going to get.

Also, one of the technicians mentioned that modem is very old (7 year old Marconi one) and that we were using wi-fi. I had my doubts on this but it was time for upgrade anyway so I bought D-Link DSL-2750U from telkom shop and speed tested using cable - as per speedtest.net, download speed is about 1.98Mbps.

Unofficial recommendation was to downgrade back to 2Mbps. Before applying for upgrade, I had checked telephone number and confirmed that that "Maximum speed available in your area is 4Mbps" (http://www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/)

Will post tracert stats later. Anyone in this area getting close to 4Mbps by chance?

I'm not far from there, near Norfolk Road. I'd guess we're on different exchanges, because mine definitely goes up to 10Mbps.

My line ran at 10Mbps when it was first installed, then became horribly unstable after a few months. An extremely helpful Telkom technician sorted that out by moving me to a 4Mbps port -- apparently the 10Mbps one was too contended -- and it was stable and wonderful. Now I have a 4Mbps uncapped account, but my modem's stats page says the line is good for up to 9Mbps.

No internet connectivity in halfway gardens, Midrand since yesterday. Any members in the area having same issue?

seems to have resolved itself although intermittent issues experienced over the weekend.

intermittent internet connectivity issues since last week. Logged a call and next day got sms from telkom saying "no issues found on this line". Anybody in halfway gardens experiencing same issues?

So i recently had a friend who moved into a complex at Halfway House in Midrand and contacted Telkom who said there is no adsl or ftth in the area of Halway House in Midrand. Need solutions people if you know of any. Wireless data is too expensive for me.
