Hardware and Software FAQ

my lan port was giving me issues and i thought it was a software/virus issue, so i ran a check nothing, reformatted and all ran well for a couple of days then just did a lan disconnect, that then happened for a couple of days every 40mins or so... I duly switched over to my wifi card and diasbled the lan port... 2 dyas ago i decided to re-enable the lan port and all was going well until about 1hr 30mins ago and it lost the lan connection... i stopped raiding (well got booted for the dc) and now its running perfectly fine with not issues - any ideas on what it could be... checked the system device tab and it say its working fine.... HELPPPPP

Have you tried another cable? Issue sounds possibly heat-related either on the motherboard, port or cable. Having done a network diagnostic, I would try a different cable, then send the motherboard in for diagnostic. Maybe it had a surge during a storm? Do you leave it on unattended?

I want to run two GTX650 ti boost cards in SLI, I can't seem to find decent info on the minimum power supply required! Can anyone help with that?

Nvidia states the max power draw is 134 W per card. I'd say anything above a 500 W or 550 W PSU would be safe. Don't know what else you have in the PC.

Depending on your CPU and overclocking (of either the CPU/GP, a 500W PSU should suffice.
eg. if you're not overclocking and have like an i5 3570 + 2x GTX650Ti's, then a decent 500W should do the trick.

The only reason why I'd typically advise to rather go for say a 650W PSU is, because the lower end PSU's don't have enough graphics card power connectors!

If you need more info, create a new thread instead.

Lastly, you can get a reasonable accurate power consumption figure here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

There are loads of places you can buy a screen.

Rebeltech, Wootware, LandmarkPC, Esquire, Gumtree, Hi-Fi Corp, Game, Incredible Corruption, etc. What is your budget, so we can find a good one you are looking for?

Thanks for input. Bought a 23" LG. Also found a spot which sells hdmi and dvi convertor cables. They make custom cables.

You can do this, won't have an effect.

Some people argue that it will effect it in 10 years or so.......

Hi guys,

whats the best way to package old working pc components if you're selling it? i do not have the original packaging anymore, would bubble rap work? or would it cause damage to the components?

Note: these are internal pc hardware (i.e motherboard, gpu, etc)

Bubble it up, see if you can find anti static bags first
