No!

What will be next, splitting into CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc?

And C++/Java/ASP/PHP ?

I voted yes unless we just call it something like "Computer Related".

Well then the Linux and Development and Networking and Security forums would all have to be re-integrated into one. Along with a bunch of other forums that fit under that banner.

Oh great, 32-31 to YES :0 Please let common sense prevail and realize that it is just not practical to split :)

I vote yes ............. often a software issue gets lost in the flood of hardware issues. So yes please, split welcomed.

Agreed!

Splitting it makes a lot more sense. Especially people who are better at answering software questions do not want to go through tons of hardware questions.

I am on the fence as well - but my gut tells me we are just over complicating things.

It has worked up to now, why change it?

The moment you start to subdivide a forum too much, people will stop checking the sections where there's not too many posts.

So when you're starting a new forum from scratch, it's great to start with only one central section where everything's posted in, and then subdivide into classes as the need arises.

So my opinion :
Determine how many posts per day is purely software related, and make a decision using that figure to decide whether it's viable to split up the sections.

Me : I'd only pop into the "software" section once a week at most, where-as I'm in hardware a couple of times a day.

Frag is right. I only have enough interest to check one forum - I never look at any of the other forums on MyADSL. If they are split up I will only check one and possibly neither... MyADSL is no democracy. Fuhrer rpm must keep things the way they are
