Okay so how does this work? I really want a Kindle. Do I now need to sign up for Amazon Prime (can do the trial period which will be free) but then need a forwarding address in the US? Feels complicated.

Prime "free shipping" isn't applicable to orders that ship internationally, however international customers can sign up for a prime trial account and should be eligible for the deals. I had a prime trial for the last 2 years prime days. Unless something changed?

An alternative that also worked previously was to buy a student email account off Ebay for like R15 and get a 6 month amazon prime membership.
