Prime "free shipping" isn't applicable to orders that ship internationally, however international customers can sign up for a prime trial account and should be eligible for the deals. I had a prime trial for the last 2 years prime days. Unless something changed?

An alternative that also worked previously was to buy a student email account off Ebay for like R15 and get a 6 month amazon prime membership.

Yeah. A .edu email address basically. You then use that email address on your existing Amazon account to verify that you are a student and eligible for the 6 month prime membership.

You can also use it to get access to student discounts/deals elsewhere (twitch prime, Microsoft store etc.)

Maybe I'm a bit blind, but I see a Fire 7? That is about the price for a Fire 7 if you pay normal price at Amazon, but can be discounted heavily.
