Think I got a bargain on the WD My Book Duo 16 TB

Ordered from amazon uk : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073ZMWD98/
On the page it shows 349 GBP but on checkout only 291 GBP. Landed cost was shown as R6755 but I chose to pay in GBP and with currency conversion it came to R6708 which was confirmed by sms from the bank

Quite interesting that the same item on amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074QW86T4 had a landed cost of R9557.

R6700 not bad considering these WD Red NAS drives cost around 4k each on their own.
Looks like a pretty good deal. Did you send forwarding address and was there any other duties you had to pay when it landed or going to land?

Is it a Red drive? Did you try and take it out of the enclosure? Or are they white-label drives?

From online reviews it seems the older generation duo models had white label red drives which only has 128mb cache. The new red drives has 256mb. I only ordered today so will report back when I receive it.

edit:
If you go to this bestbuy page one of the people says it has the 256mb cache model drives

No forwarding address necessary (e.g. no AGS). They ship directly to SA. The screenshot shows landing cost including all shipping and duties

Cool concept, but just from the look of it, doesn't look like a very good backpack i.t.o. ergonomics.

I currently use one of these:

Wider straps are easier on the shoulders, and the physical length of the backpack makes it possible for the weight (if it's significant) to rest on your waist rather than halfway down your back. Just my 2c.
