Yes it's the CPU power... Nothing else matters :)

I used to think that way as well. Bought the Redmi 7 for around R2K because of the decent CPU benchmark scores from the Snapdragon 632.

Don't get me wrong it was a great phone, but the GPU is actually inferior to even the Samsung A10.

Those prices look about right to me.

Compared to retailers of Ellies products, the prices are very low. Even the price before the sale discount is significantly lower than most retailers.

Checked their Facebook page, and the only thing that stands out is that there were 2 name changes in the last 3 years...

Page created - Sustainable Energy Initiative September 12, 2017
Changed name to Energy Initiative - South Africa April 16, 2018
Changed name to SA Energy Initiative September 8, 2018

But that doesn't really tell me much more than that they're still a pretty new startup and can't decide on a name.

Don't seem that cheap,I bought a 10w LED floodlight with a day night sensor for R95

Depend if it is 'a chinese special' or well known brand. As said above ellies is a well known south african brand and attracts a certain price point.

Would be great if you could unbundle the Freeme contract
Agreed. Don't need that. Got a sim only deal from Telkom (month to month) in October last year which I use as second sim in my phone and it only costs R58 p/m for 5GB lol. Never even use half as I have uncapped fibre at home.

Anybody know if energy-initiative.co.za is legit?
These look almost too good to be true
I bought about 4 of those 10w ellies from makro about 3 years ago, iirc it was R195 on special. They have been working fine ever since.
