I think Loot has a R40 off R400 promotion today using the coupon code WEDNESDAY. Maybe somebody else who received the message can confirm?

Anyone know if you can use more than 1 promo code on an order ?

From what I can remember they only allow you to choose one promo code or voucher at a time. I think I had to choose between my voucher and the FREED code and could not use them both at the same time.

Every now and then, something disgusting appears at takealot:

At R299 it is more than double makro but they call it 60% off. For shame, takealot, for shame...
That isn't sold by Takealot but by YoGo. Makro buys bulk so it would be cheaper. As I said numerous times if a price isn't acceptable then don't buy it or pick the best price and don't go by claims of how much the discount is.

Not only that but if you have credit on your account you can either use that or the voucher but not part of the credit after applying the voucher. I had to buy a gift voucher to bring the credit down to the exact amount needed and then reload it afterwards.

FYI Makro Cape Gate received stock of the Bosch set today. Just bought 3 sets still at R129 each.

Just a heads up. Market is being flooded as Ethereum mining is nearing it's end of life. 6GB & 8GB is still working but I don't think many miners got those when it was still majorly profitable. Should be able to pick up a few decent deals on 4GB cards in the next few months.

PS: My mining profits also seem to be going through the roof earning more with 4 cards now than with 5 previously, but that's another story. :)

Best is to switch it on for a day and judge for yourself. The way the earnings are heading I can still make R7k in the next 3 months. Have already mined 0.02834 since Monday 8 AM on only 4*RX560's.

One caveat though you have to use Linux and Phoenixminer. Windows and Claymore are dead.

what is your cost per kWh?

These are nice little plugs to measure watt usage of any appliance in your house. Long ago I bought the one with the lcd and recently the smart one which works with an app on your phone and that I control with my google mini. You can input your kw/h cost and it will calculate the cost for you. Where I stay in JHB and the bracket we fall in we pay R1.59 per kw/h

Edit: these are also handy to check the power usage all the equipment you want to use during loadshedding to get idea how long your UPS for instance should last. Talking of which, ours is starting in 14 mins

Sweet, I have a Sonoff POW R2 sitting in box unused, and was browsing KillAWatt devices yesterday. Looks like I can cut up a small 3m extension cable and make my own at no further cost.

Yeah at the time I bought mine the cheapest I could source the sonoff switch was R20 cheaper than the geewiz made up one, so I just went for the ready made one.

I saw those when I was to set up 5 or so rigs. But in the end I could only get one and it was months too late anyway so I thought no need to bother working out power usage as it's not really going to benefit me.

do you get your electricity for free? I don't understand how a direct cost like power doesn't benefit you
