Keep an eye on their website as well.. I bought my edifier off their website on special..

I'm running a Philips 27" for a while and also very happy. Guess it is subjective to a certain point, some people being more sensitive to the DPI and also depends exactly how far you are away from it as well as exact viewing angles and position on your desk. All panels are also not created equal and some just seems to give you a better overall experience.
It's not just about looks. Your actual screen size is bigger (more pixels), so for picture editing / documents / spreadsheets etc. you have more on the screen. MUCH more.
Eg. here's a side-by-side of my desktop background on 2K vs 1080. See how much more real-estate there is. See how the image is cropped on the leftScreenshot compare 2k vs 1080.jpg

I've been watching it for more than a month now, and TAL only had R100 off a couple of weeks ago.
Loot had the black ones for ~R3500, and you can buy a R250 Loot voucher for R187 Discovery miles, but I don't want the black ones.
Edifier was out of stock since last week Friday, Loot as well, but TAL seems to keep their own stock. Edifier got stock on Friday.

Yes... I've been watching them. I've probably wasted more than R1000 worth of time watching the damn things. If loot can get the brown ones in stock, I'm buying from them, otherwise I will probably order from TAL at the normal price and just never open this thread again.

Before the Rand tanked... :crying:

Once again depends on your use scenario. In my case I would have been used to 1080p on my 24" and upgrading to 27" which would be some kind of upgrade and also I wasn't used to 2k / 4k (hence not knowing what I am missing). In the case of your desktop background example I would probably scale it to fit my 1080p res and live with the scaling as it wasn't a case of being used to 2k / 4k. If I had to downgrade from 2k / 4k to 1080p it would then have been much worse.

@Quicks: @Barbarian Conan: Several of those Edifier speakers should be on special for Singles Day (11/11) or Black Friday if you can wait a few weeks. Edifier was selling the R1700BT for R2799 at the end of May during the lockdown and it might have been slightly cheaper at Takealot at the same time.

If you sign up for the newsletter on the Edifier website you should receive a 10% off discount as well as notification when they are next on special. Usually the Takealot and Loot prices for the same models also drop during the promotions.

I settled for a 4k TV rather than a 4k monitor. A decent monitor at the time costed me more than a TV.
