For a phone in perfect condition.

Guys.

This is not the first time that Samsung has offered a guaranteed buyback. Your legal recourse would be with them directly, given the offer and clear terms on their own website. Print out the t&c if you have to. Not that it is going anywhere.

@Barbarian Conan what device do you have?

Seems all that's required in the trade in phone is that the phone switches on and doesn't have a cracked screen or back?

What does Apple offer on similar devices, I saw an advert the other day offering the same kind of trade in deal to get a new iPhone?

@Barbarian Conan what device do you have?

according to the t&c, if Regener8 Group decides you don't qualify then that is the final decision.

  • The offer outlined in clause 6 below will only be provided to participants in respect of Pre-Owned Device(s) that are deemed by the Trade-In Partner through inspection of the Pre-Owned Device to be a Grade A, B or C device as per the table below:
  • Grading:Description:
Grade ADevice in full working condition
Grade BFaulty device with physical damage such as scratches, dents, cracks etc.
Grade CFaulty device with damaged or Faulty LCD
Grade DDevice that does not turn on or that only turns on with an external power source

  • The grading of the Device will be at the absolute sole discretion of the Trade-in Partner and its decision in this regard will be final.
With regards to Samsung I don't have high hopes they would intervene , a member here recently had a hell of a time dealing with Samsung customer service, went all the way to their legal department https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/thr...at-screen-youre-screwed-if-it-breaks.1169418/

Bit confusing as the site says otherwise....added to the fact you first have to buy the new phone then claim

That's what's concerning, you buy a new device and then once they receive your old device, claim it's grade D and you don't qualify, then the battle begins to either fight Samsung to honor the 10K or fight to get the device back.
Why would they show R1600, makes no sense unless it's to cover their asses just makes the whole thing seem risky, donno maybe I'm just paranoid .

Which phone?

S10e, which I paid around R11k for when I bought it, so it would be a pretty good trade. Although, even if I do get the R10k trade in, its still R8k for a new phone I don't really need.

Sure, they need to cover themselves. I see nothing wrong with those terms. If you do not trust the process, one can do a trade-in at some retail outlets, from what I understand.

Did you do the check with the link on their site? Because I get R10k for the S10e:

I entered a valid IMEI as well. All boxes are yes and I include a charger and cable.

Edit: I did it on the first link and now again the one you posted.

You do get 10k just need use right link, you can even do in store.

Ah, yes, you have to click the trade in button on this page:

If you just follow the same link from MyBB, you get R1600. Unless you clicked the button before. They probably store/check some cookie.
