They've been distancing themselves from the old Oculus company name and pushing Meta (and the metaverse) for quite a while.

Can't say how long, but the big issue is the inflated price at which they sell it.
Was 3-4k cheaper from Amazon direct, customs etc all included, compared to Takealot when I bought one.


Even now it's R7277 from Amazon, all included for the same headset.
