I've got a 27" FHD monitor and sitting a normal desk length away and it's fine.
Considering the price is also reasonably low as well it's not bad.

Even at 24" HD is insufficient. I currently have a 24", you can see the pixel's at desktop distance. I've been seeing these 27" HD and I'd love to get a bigger screen but without 4k it's going to be pointless. Granted this is all relative to your personal standards so opinions will vary.
 
Honestly, 27" 1080P is ****. At 27" rather look at 1440p or 4k. I'm waiting to see if there is any decent 1440P 144Hz monitors going on sale soon, the 27" 1080p experience isn't worth it.

I tested the 4k and in my opinion it was great for watching 4k movies or playing games, but for work (navigating operating system and apps, Microsoft office, etc) the text and controls were way too small to use comfortably and windows 10 didn't handle scaling very well. Pixel density on 1440p was the sweet spot for me.

I've used two 27 inch screens daily for the past few years, a 1440p at home and a 1080p at work and the 1080p is painful to use at work just because I know what I'm missing out on, especially when working on large spreadsheets or multiple documents.

For watching HD movies, YouTube, web browsing, etc, 1080p is perfectly fine.
 
Any good priced laptops like a chromebook or a chromebook just for emails and browsing mainly?
 
Nothing wrong with 27" HD. Anything smaller than that and working with text and elements becomes hard.

I assume you mean FHD (1080p). HD 720p will pretty much be 'pixely' as it is not the optimum resolution for a 1080p monitor

Agreed. I have a 27" Philips monitor and cant see any blockiness. Sitting standard desktop length away.

It al depends on how you setup your OS and environment.
I have seen some people complain about pixelated fonts on windows when they can just adjust cleartype fonts settings via control panel to fix it for instance

When your eyes get used to the monitor you using, you won't notice difference until you put a different monitor side by side on your desk.

I had dell 27 and got a Samsung curved 27'
Could immediately notice difference in colour accuracy and screen responsiveness.

That is a seperate issue. If you buy a seperior monitor obviously you will see differences on colour accuracy etc

The point I was making is that people were saying in the posts above that 27" at 1080p is pixelating / 'blocky'
This is not true if you setup your OS properly. The original dell 27" on special that started this conversation is perfectly fine as a everyday monitor and you wont get pixelation if you set it up properly

I've got a Dell 27" and a Philips at work and they to do not have any blockiness, but the Asus I've got at home beats them in colour and accuracy, the Dell is quickest though.
Though I was hoping to get a 32" monitor this month but renovating the bathroom took priority.

Yup, don't see any issues with my 1080p, but hopefully one day will get a 1440p or 4k :).

Yup. Totally, I had the Dell SE2717H.

Didn't have any issue with blockyness.

Perfect for office and media use.

Is this a decent price for portable drives? I'm thinking of getting another and I'm out of the loop. The last one I bought was back in 2010 with 1TB of storage and still works fine but I need more space now. The blue one is not on the site so would have to go with the R1499 black one.

In no rush to buy so will wait if there are better deals that pop up now and again.

Yeah blue one @ R1199 is sold out. Average price for a 2.5" 4tb has been around 1.5k so R1499 for the black one not really a special. Maybe wait till black friday in a few weeks?

There is a 8tb Seagate on Takealot for r2175. About r2020 after voucher.

These Seagates are SMR drives. Good for cold storage of data.

Yes prices was good , but dont think there is anything left. Luckily black Friday is coming.
