There is a chance the drives inside are Seagate brand...my Iomega 500GB that died after 4 days was.
No way of knowing without opening and then you breach warranty.

Note on Iomega....
They WON"T accept just a case return/repair ,they want you to send away the whole thing. So if the thing fails and you need to use warranty your data is gone.
OH unless you want to pay them to copy it for you.
IOMEGA suck

What is the difference, you still get one 1Tb and your computer recognises both the drives as one?

And the 500GB Seagates are going for R1100 each at IC right now so it seems a good deal...

A more important question is how reliable are there drives?

With that much storage you would partly use it for your normal stuff and partly for back up of your pc data, but if it is more likely to crash then it defeats the whole purpose of buying it in the first place :(.

What makes you think they won't be reliable? Any word on the make?

I would've been very tempted to buy this If I had not just spent +-R1500 on a 750GB HDD about a week back... :(

Indeed, I would be seriously tempted as well. So many things out there to be bought, so many bargains, and no cash :(
