Ok 9.92GB copied to drive took +- 12mins
9.92GB copied from drive took +- 7mins

Good? Bad? :|
 
boys that seems slow

i copy at around 50 to 60mb/s

so it would take me 3minutes or so

bare in mind i have raptor raid

still cannot see your pc copying 4 times slower than mine

Hmmm, let me experiment a bit. I will do the same with my other external SATA drive and see how fast that goes...Might be something else slowing it down here...
 
Ok, so I took a 4.34GB chunk of small friends episodes and moved them around from drive to drive and this is what I got:

SATA II to SATA II (both internal) : 2:37
SATA II to SATA II USB external : 2:34
SATA II USB external to SATA II internal : 3:05
SATA II internal to 1TB IOMEGA : 4:27
1TB IOMEGA to SATA II internal: 3:09

What can we make of all that? Except that it is kinda slow? :p :(
 
Didnt you read the iomega forum hj2k_x? The speeds you are getting is on-par and maybe a bit better than what I remember from the speeds posted there. It's 1TB - at a Great price - I would not be that bothered with the slower-than-normal speeds at all. Quite a nice thing to use for backing up all your files.

I did not read the forums no...

I was just worried that there was a general problem with my PC but that seems not to be :)

And, yes I am happy with it :)
 
soz hj as usual didnt read and did not see it was external

those speeds are normal

how much was it btw?
 
also got myself the 1TB.. (just 2 celebrate my bf2 rank upgrade)

purpose is not for performance - but damn this unit is rather not so fast :)

must be the stripe controller they are using..those seagate 500gbs in there on its own is much faster than it combined.....
 
Damn, I'll have to wait till the 12th (or thereabouts) for them to deliver my 1TB, that's if they have stock to allocate to my order. The speeds seem a bit slow compared to other external drives, but heck for the size at that price I can live with an extra minute or two of copying. Now I just need to sit and wait for the damn thing to arrive... :(

yeah, it is not so bad really.

I really like the look of the thing - nice solid presence. It would not have hurt to be a little quieter though, if they intend it to go on your desk, where you can hear it the most.
 
Anyone noticed that IC's website still shows a lot of the bargins? Maybe it's still on sale for the same bargin price although they advertised special runs from 30th April to 4th May? I noteced the number of itmes on special are less than last week when I visited the website.

From past experience I would NOT believe anything that is on the website. It is updated infrequently to say the least. Rather call the store and ask them...

As far as I know the specials finished yesterday but you might still be lucky and find some stores with lots of stock they want to get rid of. When i went to Canal Walk yesterday, they still had 17 1TB hard drives in stock...Maybe you can make them an offer they can't refuse ;)
