Was at Makro Vaal today. They still have about 10 2TB USB3 Verbatim 3.5" external drives - however they are marked R1299 each. I referred them to their Christmas catalog and they did a price adjustment to R899 - they did however say that the advertised special has a different bar-code and that R899 is below their cost for the model in stock. The only difference I can see is that the model they have in stock has ventilation slots in the casing - the picture in the catalog does not seem to have these slots.

True, stock issue I'd guess. R125 excl. for a 16GB is not too shabby.

Yes, its a good deal. Too bad its wifi only :( that and i got confirmation that my Galaxy 10.1 is arriving in the next 2 weeks from FNB. If you got a wifi network at home and work, then it would be decent. You can always just set up your cellphone to be the modem for the tablet as well.
 
Just bear in mind that it has weaker graphics as well afaik. Maybe just do a quick google search to confirm.

I'm hesitant to buy HDD's from Makro again as the last 2 that I bought failed after about a year of normal use. Still, the price isn't too bad, especially if you get them to agree to the R899 for 2GB as stated on the xmas flyer.

Anyone have good prices on internal drives? I need to put one in my Mede8er because streaming HD content sucks over WIFI.

Internal drives are expensive now... I remember buying the 2TB Seagate 3 or 4 months ago for almost half the price they are now...
