How is the belkin n750 wireless dongle working for you guys?

I can't seems to pick my 5ghz network on it ,have tried 2 pc's and new drivers.

Both pc's have windows 8.1 pro.

My 5ghz network is confirmed working ,my laptop uses it.

Country setting on your router vs country setting on your WiFi adapter?

Can anyone recommend a WiFi ADSL router that is powered by a rechargeable battery? Because load shedding is annoying as ****

I would get a cheapie 650VA UPS from Takealot for like R500. http://www.takealot.com/rct-650va-line-interactive-ups/PLID32714409

It'll be cheaper than what you are looking for, and it runs mine for a solid 4 hours (1x router, a switch + extender with POE). You can also charge phones etc with it if need be :) The one I linked comes with a standard South African plug on the back, so that you can connect to it as if it were a plug.

All of them can be powered by a rechargeable battery. The 12V ones can eg. be connected directly to a 12V battery. Then you just need a charger for the thing. Or just buy a UPS.

I'd go with the ups, no struggles of getting a charger cabling etc. Convenience. I have a old 2kva that I got and replaced batteries. During load shedding I've never seen even one light go off from the battery level.

My 750VA battery got killed by running the router ,only last an hour now running just the router.

At the start it did survive the full 2 hours.

I have 2000va running just the router now lol

The 2000va RCT is great, hopefully it will last for a while. Got router and a 6w led on mine.

Thanks to all those that responded re my battery powered router.

So UPS it is. I saw the RCT one on TAKEALOT.

Then I saw this mercer one for R100 less http://takealot.com/og/v1/PLID34152441

Both has some decent reviews. Which would be better?

RCT: Software allows you to turn the beeping alarm off, as well as allows better control of the ups.

Z :)

Edit: So does the mecer lol.

Open case. Unplug from power. Locate beeper. Cut wires. Close case.

I did this on a cheapy 600va. The beeper was soldered on so I just ripped it off with sharp nose pliers and no issues.

Wait haha, I just realized that the Mecer has the same. Let somebody else just confirm, but I've always used RCT :)

The mecer I got came with view power and it can disable the beep. That's the 2kva Mecer.

I did that to 2 of my ups's.

The RCT has a faster charger, so recharge time of the battery is shorter. Also the RCT UPS has been used by quite a few guys adding 102ah batteries to it to last much better through loadshedding.

I would go for the RCT, for that little bit extra you get a fairly better UPS.
