Has Digichilli Launched?

I think my IP address is in that range :o
Getting local speeds of around 5KBps. mail.google.com barely loads in html mode.

My IP has been in that range since last week friday:confused:

OK, now who wants to be in that range? Don't rush now...there's enough space for everyone :D Thanks for the feedback Dave

Is 196.44.64.x in the affected range? My current IP is in this range.

+1

Same range and my downloads dropped to 5KBytes/s this morning around 6:30. Before that I was cruising at around 50KBytes/s. My uploads are going great guns though - currently at about 40KBytes/s ...

I'm on the 256kbits package (R300 p.m.)

This is exactly what I have experienced so far today. I am also on the R300 package.

Disconnecting and reconnecting may get you a new IP address but probably not in a new block. Only once the IP's on that ESR are finished will it 'pull' another one from the pool block.

We are tracing the cause and will deal with it as soon as we can.

The 196.44.65.x. and 196.44.64.x blocks are affected.

If we find that it is particular individual/s doing this, we will contact them individually.

Thanks Dave. I am curious by nature - what kind of activities would cause something like this? I don't think it's me...just got my details late yesterday :D

If it is only some of their IPs can they not change us over to their other IP ranges? Surely they cannot have used up all their IPs yet?

Code:
P Address 196.44.64.52
Network Type PPPoE
IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway IP Address 196.44.64.49
Domain Name Server 8.8.8.8

*** slow :( No improvement over the last week. Will dc again and again....

The distribution and allocation of IP's is something that Telkom does. Not us.

Bandwidth hogs

We apply some bandwidth management, i.e. protocol priotitisation so that http should be fast and torrents slower during business hours etc. Actively changing your torrents or news hosts to encapsulate the packets to look like http and pushing it through port 80 will get this type of traffic priority. Until we implement DPI or Deep Packet Investigation and manage these bandwidth hogs who are putting there wants above other people's.

It is a conscious decision on their part to put their wants above other people's normal usage.

Any suggestions?

Please also let us know where to 'contact' them :D
Oh, and how would you like us to 'contact' them?

I think it's Rapidshare personally... multiple pipes to *.rapidshare.com on port 80... let me find the links...

You guys are even slowing down 256k more:confused:

Just don't allow people to get higher than 256k then problem solved. Why should us 384k users suffer so that someone on a 4MB line can download GB's and GB's!

Lol, now there's a crusade against people who wanna download/stream to their hearts content? Eish.

Are these so called Bandwidth Hogs not getting what they pay for? A single Bandwidth Hog must account for a insignificant portion of an ISP's traffic and even with many of these Hogs should an ISP not account for people using their lines to the max, as promised the could do...

It's like advertising that a car can reach a certain speed but actually only building it to go a lesser speed and then blaming the customer for wanting to drive too fast, when they complain.

I was waiting for the blame to be put on the customer, typical South African service. Who would have thought, a customer using an uncapped package:confused:
