HD PVR 2 P - single lnb installation

I followed the second installation: single lnb split into HD PVR P2 with NO PVR, HD only. This worked well for over a year until (I think, as I was away that week) the recent update. Now, the PVR P2 constantly reboots with the 2nd line in. As in 10 seconds after booting up, with the picture maybe shown for a few seconds. I can stop this by running a single line in only with no split.

I switched out my Ellies splitter for a Samsat (5 - 2400mhz) one, but this did not help.

Any ideas what might cause this please?

Hi

I recently bought hd pvr and installed using a 2-way splitter and it worked!

i didnt have box office or on demand so i requested a software upgrade, and now most of the channels say "check set-top box is connected" and theres no picture.

I read earlier in the thread about a powered splitter, is that the solution? i live in alba in bougain villas, century city.

please help! dying without tv.

You need a 5-2400 Mhz splitter with power pass. The power pass leg goes to port 1 on the decoder.Mine works well.

This only works in very special cases, where specialised equipment has been used inside the complex. Please don't assume that this will work for you.

Apologies if this info is already in a thread somewhere, I haven't gone through all - so credit to whoever came up with this!

Use a samsat (not the Ellies one!) 2 way splitter with dc power passthrough (5 - 2400mhz). Normally only one of the connectors can pass power. Satellite cable into "powered" out-connector on splitter, and into the Satcr connector on the pvr. The second cable into the other out-connector on the splitter, and into the other connector on the pvr.

Then you basically need to go MENU, ADVANCED OPTIONS, (code 9949), NETWORK SETUP.
Then press P+ to get to ADDITIONAL NETWORK 1 - Enable it, USE NIT = SMATV,
NETWORK FREQUENCY = 11210, SYMBOL RATE = 30000.

Press P+ again to get to ADDITIONAL NETWORK 2, do exactly the same, but use
NETWORK FREQUENCY = 11250. Do this for ADDITIONAL NETWORKS 3 - 5, each time
using NETWORK FREQUENCY = 11290, 11330, 11370.

So you should have the HOME NETWORK set up (unchanged) and 5 ADDITIONAL
NETWORKS. Then press the Yellow Button to rescan all networks...and hold
thumbs...FULL functionality! No limitation on vertical/vertical etc. Can watch and record any combination :)

Hi Guys sorry for bring up this old topic i have seen ellies have a 5-2250MHz splitter with DC power pass do you think this will work as well? cannot get ahold of the samsat one

Space TV, Ellies, Samsat etc. all have satellite splitters. You can buy any of them, as long as it covers the sat range (950-2150MHz).

This from an earlier post is right:

I had my 2nd lnb connector damaged using the Ellies splitter because it passed power to it. Needed to swap it out at Multichoice and I now use the Samsat splitter.

You just had the wrong type of Ellies splitter... They will have one, exactly like your Samsat one, as do Space TV.

Del-Bosc, get one with DC pass on one leg and connect the DC pass leg to input 1.

It could be that your viewing channel is on the wrong polarity. As you know, this is not a solution that gives 100% functionality. You can expect to experience some issues. Nothing you can do, unless you can get a proper second sat feed to your decoder.

ja i have resolved to leave it until i have the resources to install that twin lnb. i can live without the guide. as long as i gaze upon sport in glorious 'HD'. until after the olympics that is.

i was about to buy the splitter but i realised i would just be adding the same feed twice.

I recently changed to PVR 2P so as to get HD. But without activating PVR, because I'm still happy using my old LG RH7624 to record programs in advance, or use its "timeshift" to pause, rewind, etc. With the bonus of being able to copy recorded programs to DVD. I'll eventually probably break down and pay the R65 pm, because of course I don't have HD when using the LG, although I still have 16:9.

Thanks to this thread (huge thanks guys!) I have also been able to postpone upgrading my old single LNB. I used the Samsat splitter, added the additional network configs and got everything I wanted: HD and 16:9 where applicable, and the full 8-day online schedule.

But the reason for this post is Monday's upgrade (1 October). Despite the news story I read about a single LNB being no good and a rush of subscribers to upgrade to twin LNB, my viewing remains almost perfect. I can only find a problem with two of the HD movie channels - 105 and 108. With those two I get neither picture nor sound, followed by a error message saying to check my cable connection.

I can almost certainly live without those two channels if it's because my installation is now at its limit, but does anyone have any fix?

Will this work with an SD PVR?

Hey Abzo, hope you don't mind, I'll just reply here cos QT knows more than me so he can chip in.

I'm not really sure about the SDPVR cos it also has an internal multiswitch which splits the 2 inputs into 3 tuners, so I think you would have more issues with it.
Additionally you have DOD & BO recording in the background, not sure which polarity this uses, QT?
