HD PVR bug fix update

couldn't they fix it before they started this?

The mind boggles, I have nothing but trouble with the HDPVR, the call centre is useless. Here's hoping that these updates will sort out a few of the glitches.

Can we take them to ASA, because their name is not complaint with their products? e.g. MonoChoice of products?

Normal PVR

I just want to know if they are now going to forget about the normal PVR decoder?

Um. Hey I just realised I don't need to buy a HD PVR when my analog Dualview will work just fine with my HD ready Plasma. Why are people getting suckered into all the hype? and forking over crazy amounts of money for "potential" technology. The HD PVR box will be a design relic by the time full HD is broadcast.
There's currently only 1 channel out in HD.
The rest of HD broadcasting comes out no earlier than 2011.WTF.

Hosehead, I agree and want to know how the hell can they call it HD if they are only half HD. HD is 1024 by 768 (I think) and multichoice is not close to that.

common HD standards are 720p, 1080i and 1080p. multichoice's HD channel is broadcast in 720p

1280x720 progressive scan

I can't for see satellite carrying 1080p any time, perhaps 1080i, but we might hear the "not viable" statement again, because it would affectively squeeze out all the other digital channels of the Transport Stream. Meaning less (junk)channels. Oops did I say that out too loud.

If you already have a normal PVR, getting the HD PVR gives you another full channel at no extra cost (outside the purchase price). So you can watch 3 channels concurrently.

So I got a HD decoder not for the HD bit (although it does look better) but as a worthwhile investment to keep peace in a large family.

Get over the HD people.... there are many reasons to get the HD-PVR

- larger capacity
- 2 recording channels
- optional linkup with other decoders

Those are enough for me...

So basically, they launched a rushed, buggy piece of excrement they KNEW didn't work properly, because they ran out of time before the Olympic Games. These bugs are not minor things, they are major functions that don't work. Everyone should get a refund for the past two months. We are not multichoice's beta testers!!

Doesn't justify the 3x price increase over a normal decoder.
I mean FFS what's worth recording these days when you are 100% guaranteed that you will see an episode again at least twice and no need to fret about recording it just because you *might* miss it! The other two unique selling points are gobbledegook Throw your money in the bin, rather.
