HD PVR bug fix update

Hosehead, if you haven't got a PVR yet you're wasting your life. Literally. 22 minutes of ads per hour of TV. 1 hour a day x 365 days per year. You're watching 134 hours of ads per year. That's your leisure time they're stealing. How much leisure time have you got? An hour or two a day? I see R 2 500 for an 18% increase in leisure time as a very good deal.

Hosehead... You do seem to have an issue with the HDPVR, and the PVR in general..

The HDPVR is only R200 or R300 more expensive than the PVR itself, so I'm battling to find the 3x price increase over a normal decoder... if you mean the DSD1110 then that is priced at R399... so its more like 5x the price, but the features in the PVR and HDPVR BOTH justify that price difference.

As for the programs being repeated, trust me.. its infinitely easier to just setup recordings for a week and know that on saturday or sunday I can park off on the couch and watch what i WANT to watch rather than whatever is on at the time.

Why did they every change from watching two channels and recording one to the watch 1 record 2?

IIRC Record 1, View 2 requires 2 decrypters working with one smart card. Not so easy according to MonoChoice, but the real reason is probably either licencing issues or security issues. The Record 2, View 1 scenario only requires 1 decrypter, as the recordings are stored encrypted and only decrypted when played. Also a pricing thing, 2 decrypters, 2 HDMI ports etc would allegedly bring the unit cost up to R 7 000. But, "before Christmas (which year not specified)" extra view will be working and you can link 2 HD decoders at no extra subscription charge.

So basically, they launched a rushed, buggy piece of excrement they KNEW didn't work properly, because they ran out of time before the Olympic Games. These bugs are not minor things, they are major functions that don't work. Everyone should get a refund for the past two months. We are not multichoice's beta testers!!

No one said you HAD to try to view the Olympics in HD. No one held a gun to your head and said "get a HD PVR NOW!" I thougth you guys already knew this, wait a while for consumer reports before buying something, no matter the hype when its new, or suffer the consequences.

The HD PVR is made by Pace - the same as the very first DSTV decoders which were issued as the local manufacturer was not up to speed with production, but became obsolete very quickly!Similar situation to present. Full HD is 1920X1080p and satellite can certainly carry this. I get several full HD cahnnels from USA, Korea, Japan etc from the ten satellite dishes on my roof.

Right, please point me to the specs of these several Full HD (1920x1080) broadcast channels that you supposedly get from satellites that will be below the horizon from us?.

The UEC HD-PVR is pretty much the same piece of kit that Pace are distributing to us.

Also the broadcast standard is actually 1280x720 so we're not behind anybody in this regard.

WHY oh WHY is there so much misinformation, and vitriol towards Multichoice? I have no issue with challenging them when they're doing something horribly wrong, but don't attack them with rubbish information or incorrect information

I agree, it's not hard to find something rational to bitch and moan about when Monochoice is involved. There's really no need to make stuff up, especially when everyone knows you're talking ****.

Holy crap, how much does that cost you ?

It doesn't cost it anything if you ask me.. because it is talking FUD....

Satellites that cover Europe, USA, Japan etc do NOT cover South Africa, and we are unable to receive signals from them.
