HD PVR update on the cards

HD-PVR blows. Awesome when on the channel and watching. But don't record on it. Don't surf channels on it. Just don't use it if you want to remain sane! This thing is slooooowwwwww and it cut's off recordings. Sux!
 
Disappointing news regarding the plan for not adding any new channels. The sports looks great, however we are lucky to even get a single football match a weekend.
 
hey the super 14 was great on Hidef!!! I think they can at least launch 1 commited sport channel??

Also my decoder is Sloooooooooooow especially when i record....geez
takes 1 min just for info to come up, not acceptable!
 
Sticking with one hidef channel for the rest of 2009 is very weak. Think again, Think McCain.
 
I really do hope that MultiChoice get this right. I subscribed to DSTV for 3 reasons:

1. The Olympics
2. Poker Chanel
3. Movies

The Olymipcs were good, that's now done, 33% of my entertainment gone. Then they decided to make the Poker Chanel interactive so the remaining 33% of my entertainment is also now gone.

I am now paying over R500 for a service that doesn't deliver that the inferior products do and us consumers get absolutely shocking support for the device. How can it possibly take so many months to get interactive working??? From a Developers point of view, it's far too long and leaving me as a very dissatisfied customer.
 
Ok, so I will wait till 2010 then. Will stick to the SD PVR. Maybe I will have to wait till 2011 not sure.
 
When questioned about the general dissatisfaction among users in the HD range, Multichoice did admit that the product was not perfect to begin with but was rolled out in a bid to make the channel available for the 2009 Olympics.

That excuse was pretty good back then but it now it just sounds lame. The Olympics were 9 months ago. Oh, and NICE TRY at trying at making us believe the games were held in 2009! They were held in August 2008!

On another note this POS is now retailing for R3999! :D :D I'm glad I only paid R2500 for the piece of crap.
 
Funny, I don't remember their adverts saying:

"Get the new HD decoder from Multichoice - it's buggy and unfinished and we know it, but we wanted to launch for the Olympics."
 
This part is funny, more a joke:
"...Multichoice said that HD users were welcome to vocalise their complaints on the recently re-organised DSTV forum. According to the company each forum is now closely monitored by either a technical or communications representative...."

This is how Multichoice staff respond to users not happy with service:

F**k Multichoice! They are a bunch of numbnuts! Got my bill and they're tuning me that I owe then R744! I'm a fkn compact subscriber, how the f**k can I possibly owe them R744! I paid cash in February at one of their outlets! I called them and now they tune me they "have no record of payment" and that they "are going to have to suspend (my) service" and there's not a damn thing I can do about it! Multichoice, YOU ARE USELESS MOTHERF**KERS!!! I can't wait for ODM to kick your asses straight to hell!!!
 
I don't think a software patch is going to improve things much, I think the HDPVR is just a bad device period.

Far as I know Monthla Hlalhla is head of that incredibly efficient organisation ACSA :confused:

Never had a recording cut off but agree with everything else.

The HD PVR is extremely slow! If Nochoice can fix only one problem with the HD PVR decoder I hope they fix that.

You failed to mention that the main shareholder is AstraSES, which also runs Sky TV through their satellites, which makes it very easy for them to organise deals with broadcasters in Europe to beam their channels to ODM. Astra themselves own channels, most of which will definately be on ODM.
Our company does business with ODM and thus we have some inside info about their operations. Just trust me when I say that ODM will be good competition for MC.

As I heard, the HD PVR decoder has been discontinued, well the current model

Multichioce is releaseing a new model this month April 2009

Hope this is true, because this model would have duel view in as well.

So basicly, the people who bought the current model bought the beta version, even Multichioce admitted that this model were rushed for the olimypics, and every one knows that it has many problems.

Hope the information I got was correct, but I had the suspicion this would be happening soon

All extremely improbable as the UEC model still needs to be released, does not have dual view and is not a replacement for the PACE model.
