In the current advertisment the are two SD video cameras. Go in store and tell us your result! I think you should get 8GB internal + full HD for +-R3699.

Doesn't look bad. Although I'm actually a little sceptic about only 8GB Memory. I mean, you will hardly get 2hours of Full HD footage with 8GB.
But, I'm even prepared to pay about R1500 in to get a better decent camera.

Two months ago my Dad phoned me up and said I must go buy myself any video camera I want on his account. Settled for a Sony with internal memory. I avoided the hard drive as they are prone to failure and the unit will shut down if you bump it to much.

So imagine your running after a kid or trying to do some action shots and then your unit decides to power down. Wonderful!!!

(According to Sony website I can plug in an external hard drive directly into my camera to copy the media off)

OK, so say I get an HD Camera with Flash memory. How much will I pay for the different memory cards?

That 32Gb is overkill - rather just get an external drive for a fraction of the price and then say a 16GB card. Just remember that cards will always getting cheaper.

From user reviews you can get about 3,5hrs on 16GB at 9Mbps (lower quality for FullHD but perfect for home use) - I get >100minutes on my 4Gb using DVD quality (420p).

Anyway, still your descion but since my unit came with 4GB internal (unlike the better models?!?), I opted to see if the 4GB was enough. Well I'm off to go get an external harddrive now instead of more memory cards as I've found it be enough for my use.
