I want to buy a car. The budget is R80k. Looking for something light on fuel, cheap to repair and a little bit of comfort. I don't want something very small and underpowered though. Any advice or suggestions would also be appreciated.

I'm considering it and @PhireSide advice. I made this thread to get more opinions so that I can make a more informed decision and for people to send any well priced ads they come across. What about @FiestaST ’s advice he gave you in another thread?
Any reason in particular? What ever you do do not buy a Hyundai I20
Get a Hyundai i20.What ever you do do not buy a Hyundai I20
Get a Hyundai i20.
They get stolen left and right though.
Depends on the season and how low stock is.They do? I thought that is for the VW Polo...
Depends on the season and how low stock is.
Supply and DemandI honestly can't think of a reason why someone would highjack or steal a I20. I drive one the engine is good, everything else is kak.
My top 4 based on the requirements.
- Mazda 2 (R80k mark gets you round the 2008-2010 side, aim for Dynamic spec, the 1.5 if possible)
- Sunday i20 (R80k mark gets you round the 2010-2012 side, 1.6 is punchy, GLS spec is good).
- Toyota Yaris (R80k mark gets you round the 2010-2011 side, don't go for the 1L, the 1.3L or 1.5L is fine, T3 spec is good)
- Honda Jazz (R80k mark gets you round the 2008-2011 side, 1.5 VTec yo! Otherwise 1.3L base is fine)
I personally didn't choose the Suzi's as for the budget of R80k I would personally do 1 of those 4. If OP's budget was say R120k, R150k or whatever there would defo be a couple of Suzi's with very high scoring. No Suzuki??
Gtfo!!
Op the Suzuki’s in your price range will also be winners.
Just keep it Korean or Japanese and you’ll be gold.
Seems obvious to me.I want to buy a car. The budget is R80k. Looking for something light on fuel, cheap to repair and a little bit of comfort. I don't want something very small and underpowered though. Any advice or suggestions would also be appreciated.
Would a random cat not want a Jaguar?
Northern suburbs, Cape Town.Where are you based OP? Can maybe scour Gumtree/Autotrader and see what deals come up.
Very likely you'll find something on Gumtree though as Autotrader seems to be more for pricier cars overall.
