Help! Audi S3 or VW Golf R?

How difficult it is to put a turbo on a large 6 cylinder engine and a RWD drive train...
It must suck that most of the 2.0 cars are faster than the BMW.

Say what? It must suck that you have no clue (again) as to what you are talking about :D

Yeah, I get that they have a fantastic power to weight ratio, but it still serves the lower displacement argument, especially with something like the new Peugeot mentioned?

The issue is that they haven't been proven to be all that reliable. It's all good squeezing the most out of a lower capacity, but at the cost of reliability and long term durability? No thanks.

I'm sure the S3 will give yours a run for it's money, and it's a 2.0l. A very impressive 2.0l :)

Ah, maybe you referring to that car test in a certain car magazine when, once again, a product from the VAG stable actually exceeded the manufacturers claims....

But very happy to run against any stock S3 around.

I think you mean "parts".

- Smaller engine : Well, should I disagree with this, or should I just say "duh"?
- Better performance : How so? My car does 0-100Kms in 4.8. What car you talking about?
- Better gearbox : As I said earlier; you appear to be delirious. This has been mentioned a few times in this thread already (as in the ZF wins hands down).
- Better fuel consumption : Well, I would fricking hope so dude! Then again, what with the recent revelations about VW cheating on things including fuel consumption you would be stupid to believe their numbers.
- Better drive train : totally subjective.

Anyway, I thought we were talking about your awesome wisdom as to why there were 4 exhaust pipes needed?

Yoo hoo, @Rusty - waiting for your pearls of wisdom!

Don't hold your breath. With people like him it's all about the dyno and robot to robot. These same people consider themselves knowledgeable and expert drivers...

It wasnt about fuel consumption, it was about emissions.

Read up a bit more; they also confessed to fiddling with fuel consumption on some cars (not nearly as many as the emissions thing, but still...).

Don't worry, I was just taking the piss out of him. I can tell he already ducked for cover in this thread...

Yip smaller engine.
On all the tests even track tests the Golf R out performs the BMW. Theres a car shoot out for January, all the hot hatches including the BM will be there and the Type R, guess who wins?
DSG beats the BM box.
VW wasnt cheating on fuel consumption, thats real, the emissions is the issue. Its far more fuel economical, dont waste time arguing about that.
4wd over RWD, all wheel drive is the future... for the purist yes maybe RWD is good but in the current market, AWD is the way to go.

DOnt be sad, the BM is still an awesome car, I wouldnt mind one, its really an awesome option, but the golf has its merits.
