My wife is an actress and I have a number of episodes of the show she acted on recorded on my DSTV Explora decoder. I'm looking for a way to record these episodes, or just the scenes she's in, off the DSTV Explora. I know the Explora is specifically built to stop what I'm trying to do, but this is the only way I can get these episodes for my wife. Trying to get them from the production company have turned out to be impossible.

I have an LG RH 387 DVD HDD recorder and have connected it to the Explora through RCA cables. The recorder gives me a "Record-blocking signals are detected" error when I try record the episodes onto DVD.

The research I've done suggested getting a Digital Video stabiliser like this one http://www.xdimax.com/grex/grex.html#BUY which is expensive and will take a while to ship in.

Other suggestions have been to route the DSTV Explora signal through an old VCR or DVD player - have tried this but still get a "Record-blocking signals are detected".

Any other suggestions how I could get these episodes off my DSTV Explora and onto DVD/HDD?

If the Explora has RF/Antenna out and the LG has RF/Antenna in, you might have luck with that. Did something similar with a different model PVR and LG recorder when RCA recording was blocked, but not sure if the Explora has added any further protection onto RF.

You could just ask the mods on the dstv forum to send you a copy of what you're looking for. They've done it before. They can be helpful at times.
