Help me with my upgrade..

yea i dont give a crap, after my htc experience i will never buy anythign with windows on it ever again

in terms of cellphones

nokia is just awesome symbian and ngage plus a super cool mp3 player and they include a 2 gig mem card in the n81 :)

love ya nokia :), plus i can make call and speak on the phone as if this was normal

i started thinking it was not normal when i had that crappy htc piece of rubbish crap piece of junk cellphone, how i never threw against a wall i dont know
 
Between the 6120 and K810, Ill take the K810!

Edit: Did not know the 6120 was symbian.

RofLoL..from all that anger I understand why you'll never go back..and I if i ever meet you at a MyADSL meetup/conference I'll be sure to leave my phone in the car..where its safe...:p
 
Went with the K810i in the end you guys will be pleased to hear. :)

So far, I am loving it. Have to put it to bed to charge now and resist the urge to play with it for 16 hours!

In the end, the Nokias were all too slow, powered by the same under-powered Symbian OS, which apparently slows down the more apps and things you store on the phone.

The K810i has no flaws at all really. I don't mind the buttons, the joystick is fine. I would have loved if the screen were a bit bigger but it is bigger than the K750s :)

The phone is nice and fast, the camera really is a replacement for a decent digicam, and the phone is not too heavy, considering its size :)

I'll report back once I've used it a bit more.

Which Nokias were you looking at?

I have an S60 phone, the Nokia 6120 Classic and I have installed numerous applications. There hasn't been any decrease in the overall performance of the phone since I got it. :)

How exactly is Symbian under-powered? :confused:

I was looking at exactly that phone. My mate has the N73 and it is sloooow. When you click on 'new message' it is literally seconds before the message editor opens. I cannot have that.

I was advised that the 6120 runs on the same software as the N73 and would thus suffer from the same issues. Also, adding more apps and pictures and stuff would add to the seek time, is what the guys reckoned. On the N73 I can vouch for this myself.
 
Few questions about the K810 - Where can i change the backlight settings? It only stays on a few seconds and then goes off. I can't seem to find it...

Also, where is the automatic keylock?
 
Lol Backlight go to settings, display, brightness. And settings, general, security.

Have bluetoothed some music from my K750 so I can compare the two. For me, it sounds quite similar. The quality is not that of the SE Walkman phones, and there does not seem to be any MegaBass setting on the K810 which is pity.

The earphones are pretty basic and there is no 3.5 jack so you have to use SE ones..

The speaker is loud and clear, similar to the K750 really. Easy to hear even a quick sms alert when the phone is in your pocket.

So far, I have listened to The Killers - Mr Brightside, Jay-Z/Linkin Park -Encore and a classical piece by Mozart from the Master and Commander soundtrack and they all sound pretty good to me, though I am no fundi when it comes to ipods and mp3 players and the like.

No such problems on my phone. :)

AFAIK, the "New Message" shortcut, is by default on the left of the display. The reason there is a pause on this button is due to it waiting for the possible press of "*" to lock the phone.

There are 7 other programmable buttons, so it's not the end of the world.
