AFAIK, the "New Message" shortcut, is by default on the left of the display. The reason there is a pause on this button is due to it waiting for the possible press of "*" to lock the phone.

There are 7 other programmable buttons, so it's not the end of the world.

I see. Interesting :) I will tell my friend that. Perhaps changing it to a different key will speed that up at least. However, the rest of the phone is also slow. Opening up any app results in a pause, as does opening up photo albums and the like.

I liked the look of the 6120C, but the lack of a great camera and the possibility that it might be as slow as the N73 just killed it for me.

This is the only disappointing thing for me. R400 is quite steep but considering I paid over a grand for the 1GB stick that is in my K750 right now about two years ago, I guess it is not that bad :p

Edit: Seems cellucity have a 2GB 3 in 1 SanDisk SD, Mini, Micro for R319 but a M2 2GB Sony Memory card for R569 - why the huge price difference?

It's a pity your friend's phone is slow and that it put you off getting another Nokia. :(

Hehe, deep down I am a SE fanboi anyway. Not so deep down actually. :) I have had Ericssons before Sony came along and enjoyed them all.

I am sure I will enjoy this one :)
 
You will enjoy it... and honestly, the snowboarding game is just boat loads of fun....

Took me a day or so to get used to the keys, but now they feel natural...
 
Well, what bodes really well for the battery life is that fact that I have been playing about with the phone since I got it, like 6 hours ago, in order to drain the battery, and it's still going!

I have had bluetooth on the whole time, transfered all sorts of files to it, all my contacts, took photos, videos, have had the radio on for an hour and now am listening to music till it finally dies! Even managed to squeeze in a game of lame tennis :)

(but thats mostly cos I suck at if :))...

Yeah, mine goes for about 4 days with moderatly heavy usage...

That is crazy cool. I can recommend this phone to anyone who asks me what to get when they upgrade. For me, there are no major negatives, whereas EVERY other phone I looked at had something major wrong with it, even the really high end ones.

Now, all ericsson need to organise are huge Nokia-like screens :)
 
Looking at the phone now I am not sure why anyone would go for anything else right now, especially the N73 or 6120C.

Aw crap, I forgot about that. Now I have plugged it in and put it to sleep for its long charge...back on my trusty K750 now :)

Will take some pics of cool stuff and up them here soon I promise.

It seems that your 6120C has the new Symbian 9.2 whereas all the other Nokias like the N73 are still using 9.1.

The SE P1 and W970 are similarly bogged down by Symbian 9.1 technology, unfortunately.

If the 6120C had a good camera and flash it would be a great phone imo.

Edit: And when can we expect the iPhone v W970 and P1 battle to commence in SA?? I would take the W970 for sure :)

Yoh you scared me a bit lol. Theres no W970 but there is a W960 that will be out early Feb maybe. Will definately be a iPhone killer in specs anyway.

Im using a P1 atm, love it!!! Takes a bit of getting used to... but ill get used to it.
