I have to study something in regards to designing Networks for Hotels, Estates and factories (In a Consulting Engineering firm) which includes the type of stuff you would normally find in that type of environment e.g. IPTV,BMS systems, normal IT rooms, think in that direction. But its only consulting, just designing the network and then issuing it for tender to a IT company.

And I am situated in Pretoria Hatfield area.

It sounded much beter in my head.
What courses/diplomas are there specifically for designing networks in the general in the Consulting environment?

Well it depends, Remember there is alot of aspects to look at.

All your Cisco Qualifications is good.

CCNA
CCNP
CCIE

Server(MCITP, alot of other Microsoft and Linux routes here)

databases
domains
exchange
storage
backups
DNS
DHCP

Digital PABX Systems (Cant tell you where to start with this one though)

Doing some diploma or degree in Project Management should also benefit you significantly.

Hope this was more or less what you needed?

You can't design a network without lots of experience. To get this you need to have put in the hard yards. Well you can actually, but then you'll be like the rest of the idiots out there or have absolutely no clue and then expect miracles from the IT company.

IT should be the FIRST people you talk to before designing a building/estate/house etc. There are plenty of cables that need to go places. No longer your standard one conduit per room for the light switch.

But as other poster alluded to, there are plenty of network type course that you need to wade through.

I can help you. I did the original Oubaai network. I am now in Centurion.
