I have a contract with mtn and I'm currently due for an update. I've got the galaxy s2 and while it's still going strong I really would like to upgrade. Problem is I'm trying to stay within R200-250 range and there doesn't seem to be anything that would clearly be an upgrade without breaking the budget. I don't want any of the Galaxy mini phones as I find them too small. And the only thing I can really find on MTNs' site is the Xperia E1,Lumia 925 and LG L70. The Lumia seems decent but the lack of expandable storage is really not attractive to me and the L70 seems to have a weaker camera than the s2(although a camera isn't a priority for me,I'd like an upgrade to actually be an upgrade or atleast stay the same). What happen to electronics costs decreasing over time an all that? I expected there to at least be a considerable amount of features on top of what you get from the s2 range for a similiar price. The L70 has expandable storage but only has 4GB built in storage(my s2 is currently maxed even with expanded storage so I'd like at least a similiar amount) and it's battery life is rubbish. The 925 actually is significantly better in all respects but the lack of expandable memory is almost a deal breaker. It looks like I'm leaning to the 925 but I'd rather not.Are there no other better options for upgrading from an s2 that won't go above R250 and aren't the mini variants? And I do have windows 8 so I'm wondering how good the integration is between mobile and the desktop OS? ARe there any advantages in having both?

I'd like to help, but that wall of text is too tall for me to climb.

Help me upgrade from GS2 (no minis) under R250,contract,MTN

Possible choices:
Lumia 925(R229)
Pros
Decent Battery
Good Screen
Good Camera

Cons
Limited to 16GB onboard storage(ridiculous)

Meh
Windows 8.1
Gyroscope(better for games)

LG L70(R219)
Pros
Expandable storage
Android

Cons
Downgraded camera
Crap battery life
Lower screen resolution

Is the jump to Windows worth it? Are there better options without breaking the bank?

ok. its slightly above your budget but what about the lg g2 for R299pm? comparable in specs to the s3/s4.
i think you can get a note 8.0 for about 250/260 pm..

Windows 8.1 is catching up and would make a refreshing change from Android.

Be prepared for some missing apps though. Most of the key apps are there, but because the user base is smaller, you'll have to play second fiddle to Android in that department.

Also, the device feels more solid than most phones out there currently, and the camera is decent.

1. Learn to use paragraphs.
2. Use this:

3. Sony M2 suits your budget and is decent.
