Well, for the past 6 months or so I've been getting abysmal download speeds and very high latency from afternoon till midnight during weekday and the whole day on weekends. Phoned up mweb and they told me that there's nothing they can do about it and that they're sending a request to telkom to fix it, however they said it's doubtful that anything will be done.

Will changing ISPs help whatsoever (I assume not) or are there any alternatives to adsl that will allow to have low latency for gaming and high download speeds at a reasonable price?

(Sadly not in one of the areas that is getting fibre )

First thing you wanna do, is check.

Either get a free AH account or WA trial account and see what happens, or log into Telkom guest account and see what speeds and latency you get.

If all that confirms its the exchange, then move - house.

Never thought of getting a trial account for some reason:wtf:

If that doesn't work out I think I'd need some better alternatives other than moving houses :P

Open a free account with Afrihost or Web Africa to just be 100% sure, if the same thing happens then you're probably going to need to sign up to a WISP, Neotel WiMax and LTE is fast but relatively expensive, otherwise there are companies like BitCo, Amobia e.t.c
