Please tell me, if you find out
My dsl was installed & set up recently. In trying to set up a Wi-Fi network, I have messed up the dsl network settings. On the "Network Connections" window, it shows the dsl as Unconnected. When I then connect, i get a '678' message. The PC and Router (Std Telkom ADSL Wi-Fi) are currently connected with a LAN cable, and there is no activity on the line when I try and connect.

Can anyone assist with the correct settings. I have tried to reset the router, and changed the IP to 000 000 00 000; 192 168 and 10 0 0 2. None of these seem to work.

After reseting the router check that your dsl accounts details have been changed back to guest@telkomadsl with a password of guest. All setting should then be back to default.
If your router still reports that it is not connected to this test account the problem is most likely on the telkom side.

Thanks Mikef. I have checked and these were not changed. Should the TCP/IP properties box be checked as 'Obtain IP addrsess automatically'.

Yes. You want your router/modem to get an IP from Telkoms network automatically.

If your logon details did not return to the default your router was not properly reset. Try resetting again by holding in the reset button for at least 5 seconds

Agreed.

>reset the router
>dsl link will be solid and dsl act will be flashing..
>set your pc to automatically obtain ip addresses
>access routers interface via 10.0.0.2 (username: admin , password: administrator )
>go to wan
>type in your username and password from isp , default settings are correct..
>submit and save config...
>go to ppp below status , should say status connected...

thats via lan cable...

for the wireless, view available wireless networks
you should pick up marconi as the avail
it will ask for a wep key, the key is below the router
10 digit for 64bit encryption 26 digit for 128bit encryption
punch it in and your set to go...
