Our Reseller hosting is all back on-line. We moved from Web Africa because of all their down time!

If you have a dedi server or vps server with Web Africa down time is minimal, there rarely routing problems. Though the shared hosting is another story.

Looks like Eskom load shedding is effecting some of Hetzner's data centers at the moment.

Point of impact: Cape Town Data Centres

Symptoms experienced: No current customer impact as Cape Town DC 2 and 3 are running off generator power, while Cape Town DC 1 and 4 are running off UPS Power.

UPDATE: Generators for Data Centres in Cape Town 1 and 4 have failed to transfer load and Hetzner managed servers will be shut down shortly.

Cause of problem: Load Shedding

One would think, that after a few hours of constant "generator problems" they would have upgraded their cheapo gensets to something more powerful, with bigger petrol tanks and redundancy? They might have cheap bandwidth but sometimes it's worth-it to pay extra with IS for better uptime

Yeah just got a panic call now. Just migrated a customer there a few weeks ago and already issues. FML

Anyone else experiencing intermittent donwtime with hetzner?

Happens on all our servers that sit on different racks, so not server related.

It's only 1-3min each time. Contacted dedicated support yesterday but haven't had a response yet.

We have our servers in colocation racks with hetzner and hasnt been down from what NOC team sais. Could be certain POD row or switches affecting you in possibly? Are you using their Traffic or some IPransit link with different provider? So not to sure. Hope they got back to you.

"At around 17h00 yesterday and 04h00 this morning, the row17-18 row-level router exhibited an anomaly where some MAC addresses were not being correctly added to the ARP table. The problem is being investigated."
