High end pc vs ps3 vs xbox

1.) Yes, having loads of fun playing FPS with my controller. Don't knock it simply because you can't master it. ;)

2.) ?? Most FPS games i play on consoles don't have aim assist, or it can be removed by entering a thing called a Settings Menu.

3.) So because you can F5 on a PC, it's better?

My argument was purely based around games, and as i've said before, the only PC exclusive game i found worth playing in the last couple of years was The Witcher...
Ok.. tournament players uses joysticks.. yes.

But to each his own. Enjoy the limited functionality of the console...

I've never enjoyed FPS with a mouse. Even before I started using consoles. Personal preference.
I don't find playing FPS games with a game controller as easy as with a mouse and keyboard, but even on the PC I'd be inclined to continue using a game controller. Somehow I just feel more connected with the game that way. Definite plus to having spent a lot of time playing on consoles - I was forced to learn to use a gamepad.

There's always talk about connecting the PC to a big display, but how practical is it really? Do most people have space on their desk for a 40" display?
Looks quite practical from my couch.

Desk? I don't think my couch is high enough to use at a desk.

Do you have to connect it to the display each time you want to play, and then switch back when you're done?
There isn't anything to switch back to.

PS: I was talk more along the lines of background processes, not just the game itself :)
So shut them off if your PC is too slow to manage running other applications at the same time.

PS3 would be best value for money seeing all the stuff it can do and all its exclusives. PC's are most powerful (well depending on a lot of stuff) and can play games at the highest of levels. 360's are well umm.. heaters :D

360's aren't heaters, they are good at what they do - the games are just too damn expensive for anyone to REALLY have fun with to the MAX

That's why I prefer to invest in PC hardware - sure, it gets old after a few years - but it's better than investing in plastic discs that get scratched, and only have a use of like 80 hours anyway...

The R700 I spend on a Hard Drive/RAM/etc gets used for years, not hours.

This argument again? You must be really clumsy with your discs.

Agreed, I'm currently playing Halo (on Legendary) which I bought at the XBox launch (read... not 360 but 2002 original). So I dunno, maybe I'm a bit anal, but I'm sure I'm not, about my discs... but almost 8 years service ain't a bad track record (plus I shipped it in my carry on luggage from the UK, including the console, almost 6 years ago).

Fixed!

but who cares even if you DON'T scratch them - it's 80 hours of fun and bam....bored with it. sure some games might have a bit of re-play vlaue but how many times can you play a game over and over and over?

If anyone is regularly breaking or scratching their discs they're mishandling them.

I agree, I have kids. :D

I think you have it confused with the PS3.
Old news, The slim is better by 50%. My fat PS3 is fine, no heat problems there also NO RROD. ;)

Tell that to my son please!

Killzone is not better on PC, because it was designed for the limitations of the Xbox.

not gonna read through the whole post - but maybe do you homework before making comments.

Killzone 2 is a Ps3 exclusive...

Permenantly having to upgrade a pc is expensive...??? STHU!!! get a pc owner and a xbox/ps owner. both buy the exact same games and after two years the pc owner can upgrade his pc to play any damn game with the money he saved from the price difference.

yeah - and then the PC owner sits with brand new equipment, while the xbox owner sits with a system getting more and more ancient every year, IF it is still going that long...

and when the "new" xbox comes out - he will have to shell out a lot of money for that TOO, nevermind the games.

console accessories are damn expensive on top of all of this, too.

Its simple..

PC > PS3 > XBOX

No console will ever be better than a PC unless it starts using an open hardware platform and be upgradable, which will essentially make it a PC.

a high end pc can handle more polygons at higher resolution than a PS3, which in turn can handle more than an Xbox.
It is the better technology with the better hardware, which makes it better!

Something can and never will be better because it is cheaper... something is better because it is better. (Assuming consoles were cheaper, which it is not if you buy plenty of games)

If a pc is less accessible it doesnt mean it is worse. (a Ferarri is less accessible than an Uno)

There are apparently more exclusives on consoles.... which means buggarall if 90% of them have exactly the same dynamics due to the limiting controllers

Something is also not better because it is more popular. So more games are sold on consoles, does that make the platform better? No! Patricia Lewis is also popular, and so is the ANC

There you guys go again with polygons, higher res, blah blah blah...

It's obvious that the PC wins in the graphics department. Every time a top of the range card gets released you can plonk down your R7000+ and upgrade. You'd unfortunately STILL miss out on a crapload of console exclusives, some of which are the best games released so far this generation. ;)

But hey, you will always have SC2 and Diablo III to look forward to...;)

*nod* ..... my nephew has a PS3 and i find the quality of games are a joke for the price paid... seriously 900 bucks for a game you end up playing for 2 weeks.
